yay!

i havent kept up to date with the shareware sourcecode for Wolfenstein3D - but last time i saw
it it was still a hell of a lot of custom x86 code.

good job!

as for the other games...well, we'll see how things develop. Folks are already playing Quake native on OS4

Hi there everyone,

It doesn't matter that Wolf3D is old - the fact is it's an extra game to play on AOS4 - there's nothing wrong at all with building up a nice back catalog, especially one as good as Wolf3D aaacccctttttuuunnnnnnnn

Great going on the port, it's really good to see that games are now being ported to AOS4, keep up the great work we're behind you all the way.

BTW, I want Cinema 4D back on the Miggy, use it on the PC and would love it back on the Amiga - sigh.

Chris

From what I understand, Steven Fuller doesn't have any previous experience with AmigaOS development.

No, he hasn't. He got the AmigaOne because of the LinuxPPC version of Gorky 17. He got interested in AmigaOS 4, and started working on it. He had done this port of Wolfenstein for Linux before and ported it to AmigaOS now.

He also did the preliminary port of Gorky17 (the screenshots can be seen on our home page).

He and Joe Tennies have done an outstanding job with Gorky 17 so far. It's great to work with such people.

Every litlle game/application is welcome...

Personally I never really liked the first person shooters, I prefer games like starcraft and c&c.
Realtime strategy that ain't too complicated to play, hope we will see something like that for OS4.

But thanks to Steven Fuller to pay attention to our small platform, hopefully we will se more games from him, besides Gorky17

Ah, C4D... Still play around with that on my A1200. Has to be one of the easiest 3D packages to get good results from with the minimum of fuss.
Here's hoping that RealSoft4D ain't too far away...

Can someone enlighten me as to the plot behind Wolfenstein3D? Are you shooting up Nazi's, or is it the other way around?

Don't worry there is also a PPC version of Doom, i think there are no problem to run it on AmigaOne/OS4

Anyway we can run it in emulation with AmigaUAE or Petunia

Shooting Nazi's, then at the end Hitler comes out in a armored robot suit or something like that.

Ach! Mein Laben!

@Hyperion:

You should really consider porting the absolutely fantastic Monkey Island 3 to OS4.

I'm all for native versions of these games for AOS 4! Especially I'd like to see Quake 1 and 2 native but also Hexen 2 which STILL has not been ported to Amiga.

I would like to play Doom, Hexen, Heretic offcourse too. Maybe the time is right for GL ports of these games.

The more games the better, then again WHY bother?

Simply port DOOM Legacy here:

http://legacy.newdoom.com/

Then run the Wolfenstein Total Conversion packs on top of that and get the same experience only in OpenGL, and with the possability of 3D models and Hi-Res textures.

Kool to have it ported, but I'll never be happy till Amiga has a Legacy port (see my homepage).

While we're on the topic of FPS's

Remember Marathon for the Mac (prelude to Halo)

http://www.uni-mainz.de/~bauec002/A1Main.html

Needs an Ami port.

How about Aliens V.S. Predator? The source code has been released... a while ago infact.

Quake could use some updates, now that we're heading to PPC and all.

DOOM DOOM DOOM, lots of DOOM source ports that are VERY amazing.

Rise Of The Triad, dumb game, but...

it's open source.

I could go on, you get the idea.

We need MORE! :)

Steven Fuller ported to Linux even "Alien vs. Predator" and "Rise of the Triad" (not to mention "Duke Nukem 3D" and "Freespace 2").
Is there hope for an Amiga port at least of the first one?
And Joe Tennies is the same Joe Tennies of Mono fame?

Why not just use ScummVM ?

Indeed you make very good points, if some of this games could be ported and extended to match the capabilities of AmigaOne could be a very good thing indeed!

Monkey Island 3 runs on Amy using ScummVM. Now the amiga SDL libs are quite slow, but the next version of WarpSDL will change this. Anyway you can play it (like a slideshow) on a classic 1200 with 060 and voodoo3. Maybe on a old PPC it runs fine.

I have three good ideas for re-releases:

Eye of the beholder
Eye of the beholder II
Eye of the beholder III

The third in the series never made it to the Amiga. I'm certain these games would be just as good today (I'm playing eotb2 for the first time now, as I acquiered (sp?) the original floppies from a colleague yesterday ).

Maybe update the graphics slightly to 256 colours, but nothing else should be changed.
Hmm, I wonder how hard it would be to get porting rights to this after all these years?

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.
