| The URL is ####ed up. This one works:
Edit: removed link
Wondering if I should download it, my A1 needs something to do until OS4 arrives...
Off-Topic: Does anyone know if work is being done on getting some of the BSD's to run on the A1? Last edited by L8-X on 30-Apr-2005 at 03:57 PM. Last edited by L8-X on 30-Apr-2005 at 03:49 PM.

| It was said that the Linux distros coming from x86 world (i.e. Debian) did not included the function for the so-much-talked-about ArticiaS DMA issue (ability for both PCI bus and CPU to access memory at the same time), because the x86 boards do not have such feature. Being YDL a 'native' PPC Linux distro, does this release for Teron include the proper functions to handle this feature?

| Mai apparently have applied a number of kernel patches for the DMA issue. IIRC, it is still somewhat in a testing stage. |

| hmm, i remember i got this problem to. I ended doing a whole reinstall only to realise at the end that my bootargs were all messed up :oops. Before you do anything drastic, make sure all the bootargs are set up correctly. You never know sometimes |

However it still seems to have problems with the DMA issue?
The install went okay but... when on my first boot I got "Verifying Checksum ... Bad Data CRC" The installer was nice though... |
I cannot understand this situation... :¬/ If MAI provide a REAL solution, it would be a killer feature, making the board attractive for Linux users, a bigger market, and they have had time more than enough to solve the problem. So, what are they waiting for? Well, at least it does not affect to AOS4...

Note that, the (closed source) nForce family has a similar feature i.e. giving memory access at the same time for; 1. NB<>SB 800MB/s Hyper-transport link. 2. AGP8X (~2.1GB/s). 3. CPU (~3.2GB/s). 4. NB SPP?s DASP // independent data caching/gathering while there?s excess available bandwidth (NB's speculative cache).
Reference;
"a key innovation in NVIDIA?s Platform Processing Architecture?s nForce? Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP), grants the CPU, GPU and Media and Communications Processor (MCP) simultaneous access to the system?s 4.2GB/sec(now at 6.4GB/sec via PC3200) of memory bandwidth, guaranteeing continuous access for all applications, every time." - nForce_TwinBank_Memory_Architecture_Tech_Brief.pdf
I don't think nForceI/II drivers would be any useful for MAI's chipsets i.e. different platform processor drivers? _________________ Amiga 1200 (rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32/RPi CM4/Emu68) Amiga 500 (rev 6A, ECS, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 4B/Emu68) Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB
