Hardware News   Hardware News : New Kickflash OS4 firmware available
posted by elwood on 20-Jun-2004 6:20:46 (1544 reads)
A new version of the Firmware V1.52 for the Kickflash flashrom-card for Zorro-equipped Amigas is available. This update fixes a bug in the memory allocation that kept certain A3000 models from starting properly. The programmer-team Coyoteflux are now working to implement kickstart remapping for the next update.

Interesting... so does this get rid of the need for reboots, or does a cold-start still need to boot twice?

As far as I understand the thing, once the kickflash is loaded (done once), the kickstart is always loaded from the kickflash when the Classic is booted.
So no more additional reboots, even with a cold start the Amiga starts immediately on the kickstart stored in the kickflash...
