Software News   Software News : Sixth Preview of Jabberwocky V1.5 available
   posted by MikeB on 7-Aug-2004 19:13:49 (1930 reads)
"We got the sixth Preview of Jabberwocky V1.5 ready. Get it here.

The archive contains new locale catalogs which must be used with this version of Jabberwocky unless you are using the default English locale. See readme for more info. "

Update: DJBase: "We suggest that anyone who downloaded pre6 delete it and return to pre5. Pre6 can be unstable and crash your Amiga."

I've been using Jabberwocky for quite some time now, previously on OS3 and now on OS4.

As usual this (preview) release works fine, except if I select the 'Help' menu option (in OS4, I haven't tried OS3) I get a crash.
I don't know why this happens. I presume that Jabberwocky just loads the Jabberwocky.guide file which is present in /Docs.
I have tried copying Jabberwocky.guide from the /Docs directory to the main Jabberwocky directory, but still get the Grim Reaper.

I did notice that the requirements for Jabberwocky include Mailtext.mcc (this probably has nothing to do with the Help system though).
This isn't present on my system, and Jabberwocky seems to work fine without it.
I'm reluctant to use files (especially MUI ones) which haven't been released for OS4, so is it safe to use an OS3 version of Mailtext.mcc?

@RedMelons

I'm using mailtext.mcc 19.8 and it works fine. Jabberwocky only needs it for the message windows (you can't look at any messages without it)

We suggest that anyone who downloaded pre6 delete it and return to pre5.
Pre6 can be unstable and crash your Amiga.
