   posted by MikeB on 17-Oct-2004 15:57:46 (3051 reads)
Taken from Richard Drummond's website : "A new version at last - or least a release candidate of the next version. This one is based on the WinUAE 0.8.27 core and includes a vast multitude of bug-fixes and improvements, so I'm not even going to try and list these here. See the README and ChangeLog below for the full story. Binaries will be made available shortly."

Very nice, but a question... why about using the source code of the latest WinUAE? And WinUAE CVS? It could be nice a nice cooperation with WinUAE programmer or something

Because the latest WinUAE doesn't compile for Linux, Unix, OS X, BeOS, AmigaOS, etc. It takes time and effort to adapt WinUAE - and that's why I haven't caught up with the latest WinUAE version yet.

I have been co-operating with Toni Wilen - or at least as much as time will allow me to at the moment. I hope to improve this in the future.

Cheers,
Rich

@evilrich:
Why don't you upload your programs to os4depot?
Note: E-UAE works great. Thank you very much for your effort!

Alex.

I mentioned this before. With the builds of stuff that require SDL and other libraries, I'm not going to upload these to os4depot until SDL, etc. are available shared libaries. At the moment, these games depend on a multitude of libaries which are all statically linked and taking care of all these dependencies in OS4 depot (for GPL compliance) would be a nightmare.

I will upload E-UAE to os4depot when then the final 0.8.27 release is ready.

@evilrich:
Ok, I missed that explanation. This makes sense, thank you.

Wow! This release is so much quicker! I can run the "State of the Art" and other such demos at pretty much full frame rate on my 800Mhz A1.

Great work!

Thanks,
Bean.

You can find some screenshots at http://rcdrummond.net/uae/screenshots/

Some of these are quite old, though, and not just of E-UAE running OS4.0.

This one - http://rcdrummond.net/uae/screenshots/uae_af60_on_os4.png - shows AmigaOS 3.5 and a bit (from the Amiga Forever 6.0 CD) running on E-UAE on OS4.0. This is the SDL build of E-UAE for OS4.0, however, which I haven't released yet. The current OS4.0 version doesn't support the P96 emulation yet.

Cheers,
Rich

@evilrich

Hmm.. that native versions P96 code will be interesting, since you'll be wrapping the Picasso96 API over... Picasso96 I'm thinking that UAE P96 screens and windows could map directly to native P96 screens and windows, allowing full hardware acceleration unlike the normal "framebuffer" of UAE P96 which results in crippled intuition speeds in, for example, WinUAE...
