You must enter a valid GoldED AIX serial code. Entering nonsense or the code of an older version, e.g. of GoldED6, will bring you to a document not found error (sorry, my javascript skills suck). After you have entered the code, please click on login. A RETURN will not do at that point, as is pointed out on the login page. I have validated the system, it works. If it doesn't work for you specifically, please contact me. Real email, not here, not PM. Btw, copy and paste is a very good idea but you must be exact, no extra space.

There is no upgrade path anymore. But if you three get together (I believe you are all registered for GoldED6?): there are massive user group discounts. 20% for two, 30% for three, up to 50% for ten or more items.

Nice . . .

I think getting ten would be nice. I think though it would come down to collecting the money for the group, as I think you would be looking for one payment to get the group discount? Also I did not see on the site:
http://projects.dietmar-eilert.net/news.htm
Where I/we would need to go to put in an order, is that on a different site?

Again Thanks,

Yes, in case of user groups (or ad hoc user groups for purposes of getting a discount) , I prefer to deal with one person. Software is mailed individually tough, to each new user and not to the group. Please use the contact page on the golded web site.

Darn! There goes my settings...

Oh, well, I don't have any plans for the weekend anyway.

@dietmar

Thanks for another update of a very useful application!

Btw, I found a little bit of a bug in µGoldEd.. When I specified the "ENVIRONMENT" tooltype without an actual environment existing at that location (I figured it'd be created automatically by the application at some point), it guru'd at startup.

Also, the "PREFS SAVE BASEDIR" command doesn't really do anything unless you've changed any of the settings. (Well, du-uh! ) Not that one would really need to actually save the default settings anyway, though in this case, I was just looking to set up an environment that I could point to in the tooltypes, so that I would be set to start tweaking it every now and then as I go (and not necessarily right away).
The last point is preferably sorted under the "idiot user who needs to grow a brain"-category, by the way.

But hey, don't let me rain on your parade or anything. It's one of my most frequently used applications, I'm growing really fond of it, and you've done a really good job with it!

Yeh this group ordering is quite nice. We (ACGGbg) were something like 10-12 ppl when we ordered and got a great discount! Suddenly it wasn't that expencive anymore!

Thanks for supporting OS4!

/shoe - running off to find his serial n.o.

It should display a warning and exit gracefully but apparently the warning itself throws a hit. Oops. Please try the microgolded version I just uploaded and see if that hit was the cause of your crash.

Actually, the syntax is PREFS SAVE BASEDIR="PATH" and, as far as I can tell, works as intended: PREFS SAVE BASEDIR="ram:" creates a configuration file and a folder for presets in the RAM Disk, and saves all loaded presets). Please write a bug report on the GoldED feedback forum if not.

This was just a mini update for a specific problem. But there'll be a real and cool update before the end of the year. I'm working on a new plug-in system. Here is an early design study (if you can draw: alternative suggestions welcome):

I tried the registered english and the demo-english versions, but none of them seem to be newer than the registered one I downloaded earlier this evening. Anyway, they still crash. (I could e-mail you a grim reaper crashlog if you'd like)
Or maybe the updated version won't show up yet?

Actually, what I used was PREFS SAVE BASEDIR="Program:Text/microgolded/prefs_pubscreen", I just wanted to spare you the boring details.

Though I think I've found what the problem might be, possibly maybe. If I try to save the prefs this way after first firing up µGoldEd (without doing anything else), regardless of whether I edit them or not, I get an AmigaDOS-requester prompting me to:

Please insert volume
builtin
in any drive

However, if I first chose to save the settings, straight from the menu (or within the settings window itself), which creates a microgolded drawer in sys:prefs/presets, and then do the "PREFS SAVE BASEDIR", everything goes smoothly.
So, I'm guessing µGoldEd is picky about having an actual config saved in the first place before being able to save it somewhere else?

That sounds neat. Just for the AIX though, I'd guess?

Not much of a freehand pixel artist, me. I could change the colour of your eyes and apply some lipstick on a photograph, though. But that's as far as my skills can reach, I'm afraid.

They've been uploaded again in case something was wrong with them or the proxy. Tested and verified to be the new version.

If you change the base directory for configuration files, the editor will copy the current base directory to populate the new directory. So yes, you must save the configuration at least once, to get some files that can be moved ("builtin:" is a symbolic name that stands for built-in defaults, not for actual files). Unintuitive is my motto.

Yes. microgolded might get a navigation strip in that process (I expect to move that into the editor itself and out of a plug-in).

Yup, that's better. The files I dl'd last time had a 2004-10-20 date in the version, the ones I got minutes ago had a 2004-10-21 one.

And this time it works rather nicely, even in my "skilled hands."

Information
File not found: RAM:temp/registry

I kinda figured something along those lines. Good to know I was on the right track then. At least with my assumption in that regard. Sorry though about the bogus "bug report."

Quote:

Well, it works, that's the main thing. Besides, most (sane) people would probably save a config before getting overwhelmed by the urge to save an alternative one, so I guess it'd take someone...ehrm...."special" to discover this oddity.

So, thanks a bunch for the initial update, the feedback, and the quick fix to the Grim Reaper issue!
