Software News   Software News : E-UAE-0.8.27-RC2 released
   posted by MikeB on 26-Oct-2004 22:21:22 (2417 reads)
Taken from Richard Drummond's website: "This release fixes some bugs in the previous one, including a potential segfault in the keymap code at start-up and the broken Kickstart emulation. Also, the missing glue files for compiling against the SDL framework on OS X are now included in the source tarball, and memory usage at start-up in the OS4.0 version has been reduced. See the ChangeLog for the full details."

Cool.
There are a couple of bugs but as you have more important things to do with OS4, I don't bother you with that...

Sometimes when you play a game and go back to the Workbench and then return again the sound is gone. Not sure if other people have the same problem.

It's really good to see that Richard is really serious about E-UAE. Not just one release and that's it. Really happy to see this is the case.

Yes.

That's the most significant improvement in this release on OS4.0. I've knocked around 10MB of the size of the BSS chunk in the binary. It should have fewer problems on machines with 128MB of memory. (Note that E-UAE doesn't use this much memory - but, because of the large BSS size, it does need to allocate an unfragmented 20MB chunk just to be able to load.)

Cheers,
Rich

I've not noticed this myself - and I've tested it extensively. I'll put my thinking cap on . . .

I thought this was one of those things only I have. Somehow I attract bugs that only I have. Sometimes moving back to the Workbench and then back to the game a few times brings back the sound. Or when you play a bit on in the game suddenly the sound comes back.

@Rich

Thank you for the support. I'm playing the Team17 games in ipf format and works great.

@all
I've tried to format a floppy without success. Can't enter de volume name and then UAE freezes (can go back to Workbench though). Anybody can confirm this?
