| Nice! is this (or rather, the more polished version of it ) going to become part of the OS, or is that impossible because of licensing issues? (ie parts of AmigaOS would have to become GPL'd) |

| @CodeSmith
It would be better if the SMART stuff was added to MediaToolbox (but, yes, it would probably need to be reimplemented from scratch to get around the GPL) _________________ "Miracles we do at once, the impossible takes a little longer" - AJS on Hyperion Avatar is Tabitha by Eric W Schwartz

| If I'm not mistaking, this feature was introduced in Windows2000. Damn ! We are catching up ! _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation

| I was under the impression that SMART was something implemented at BIOS level only. I didn't know you could use it within the OS. _________________ Trust me. I'm a doctor.

| SMART IOCTL already exist in Windows NT4.0 SP6a i.e. SP6a contains a fix for the buggy SMART IOCTL call.
For Windows 95 OSR2's SMART support refer to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=265854 Last edited by Hammer on 02-Nov-2004 at 08:57 PM. Last edited by Hammer on 02-Nov-2004 at 08:42 PM.

| smartmontools are very good, using the smartd here on sun servers - just for reporting bad hdds, BEFORE they really fail.
THO : yesterday i just compiled smartmontools on a sun ultra and started smartctl -a /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 and ... the drive crashed :-/
hope the miggy version doesn´ t do such things _________________ ... what is the question ?! ... don´t forget the ![url=http://stat
