| Yes, at last, something truely useful.
There are some slight layout problems under OS4 here, but apart from that, excellent.
One feature request, could it somehow link to structures?
If a structure is mentioned in the autodoc/function reference, ie:
struct Screen *OpenScreen( struct NewScreen *)
would it be possible to make both Screen and NewScreen clickable hotlinks that take you straight into the include file and at the structure definition?
I know it's early days yet, but it's looking real good so far.
[edit]
Sod it, for 15 bucks, I've just registered it too :) Last edited by rigo on 20-Dec-2004 at 01:38 PM.

| Looks really nice, I have to try it when I'm back home at my A1

That's something I would vote for! Best would be if include files would be displayed too as there are the defines for structures, tag items etc. It's not so funny if you have a good autodoc viewer but have to switch to another tool for looking into defines in the include files (for example, who knows all tags for OpenWindowTags() and what they are good for?). It would even help if it wasn't linked to the autodocs (maybe only by a automatic search?) but only a tab where I can select the includes.

Short answer: YES.
This feature is already on the list, it just was not ready for this release. I was holding up the release a bit to perfect a few more things first, and was fighting with ReAction layout stuff, but decided it was ready for a first preview look.

I am still wrapping up a few things for the company I have been working for (for the last ten years), having turned down their offer for a promotion which involved moving, and decided to finally go into developing AmigaOS4 software full time. So, although I have been working on the overall Development System idea since BEFORE this last decade as a corporate Sr. Software Engineer, I have only been able to put two weeks of development time into The SDK Browser so far.
I'm glad you like it, and THANK YOU for registering!!! _________________ Jamie Krueger BITbyBIT Software Group LLC jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com PLEASE NOTE: I only speak for myself and my company, and am not a spokesperson for Amiga Inc.

| Looks really good! I haven't tried it yet and only quickly looked at the features + screens.
My wish list:
- Customizable color coding (keywords, titles, parameters...) - that link system which was already mentioned :) |

| Whoa! fantastic work mate, now, what about a fast&small editor with syntax highlighting for C/C++(or more, via some sort of plugins).
That's something to look®ister ASAP , just keep the good work guys. Last edited by Ami603 on 20-Dec-2004 at 05:00 PM.

| Looks useful, even tho I don't think I'll ever use it. Hope it makes development easier.
SDK Browser is SHAREWARE, openly providing a full featured product with a recommended US $15.00 registration fee.
Sounds like the good old days again

| Truly a very impressive and useful piece of software.
I've downloaded it, but it's pretty much useless to me until I get my A1 in January!
Well done, and thank you. _________________ Ya Husayn!

OK, so for all those others that are thinking of registering, how does this system work?
The preview executable doesn't seem to be crippled, so what are we all going to get for our money?
I am assuming that later versions will be nag enabled? _________________ Simon

You are correct, the current version of SDK Browser is not limited, incomplete yes , but not crippled.
The SDK Browser project is a spin-off of the work being done as part of a larger commercial project, intended to bring a professional development environment to AmigaOS4 developers while also encouraging new developers and novices to write quality software for AmigaOS4. Collecting small registration fees (and donations) is ESSENTIAL to the completion of that project.
SDK Browser Version 1.0 (when released) will remain shareware, offering very handy features we feel should be made available to everyone now, and hope they will in turn support AmigaOS4 development as a whole by registering the software.
Registering the PREVIEW VERSION now, before the release of 1.0, buys you Version 2.0, which is the commercial version of the program that will contain many of the features being suggested now, and will be sold directly for a (as yet undetermined) larger price than the current US $15.00 registration fee.
Anyone who registers SDK Browser v1.0 after it is released, will be able to upgrade to Version 2.0 for a discounted (by US $15.00) price.
Therefore;
Register the PREVIEW VERSION now for US $15.00 and get Version 2.0 for FREE. (Plus a voice in suggesting new features for future development.)
Register Version 1.0 after it is released, and you can upgrade (at any time) to Version 2.0 for US $15.00 OFF the normal price.
So for the best deal Register SDK Browser (PREVIEW VERSION) Now!
I will post this information on the website www.bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com as soon as the feature set is fixed for both v1.0 and v2.0. _________________ Jamie Krueger BITbyBIT Software Group LLC jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com PLEASE NOTE: I only speak for myself and my company, and am not a spokesperson for Amiga Inc.

| Thank you for that, at least now we can see where all this is going.
So registering this product now really does make sense in the long run. _________________ Simon

| This looks really cool. The closest thing i can compare it to is GST from the SAS/C compiler. Invaluable. _________________ Q: How do you make an Amiga run? A: Threaten to put in a Windows CD.

| I thought I should post this here as well:
I would like to thank everyone for their input and support. It would appear that my idea to release a spin-off tool from my main development effort was correct. Amiga developers need to have the basic tools NOW, worse then they need the advanced tools later, and I of course need to establish a flow of income to keep developments going full time.
Therefore I have decided to continue on the path started with the SDK Browser and release smaller incremental tools, which work together to form a basic IDE, and beyond.
So, you asked for it, you got it.
BITbyBIT's current AmigaOS4 project list: [SHAREWARE] SDK Browser 1.0 [COMMERCIAL] SDK Browser 2.0 [COMMERCIAL] Basic IDE (no title yet) [COMMERCIAL] Drap & Drop ReAction GUI Builder (no title yet)
Don't be too surprised if I throw in a few micro-priced items I think the AmigaOS4 user base might need as well.
Along with this plan of small steps towards the larger whole, I also intend to keep the releases coming (submitting something new about once a month or sooner), and the cost per "update" small.
This way everyone can afford to contribute to the growth of the AmigaONE/AmigaOS4 software base, and get something right away in exchange. Plus keep BITbyBIT Software Group in the black and producing bigger and better software for all of us.
Thanks again (and a special THANK YOU! to everyone who has actually registered the PREVIEW version of the SDK Browser).
