Cool! I used qADSL för a long time when I had ComHem and Telia. Now I've got BBB and a Netgear router so there's no need for a connection keeper. But chances are I will have to change ISP some day and when I do this will sure come in handy.

I just switched ADSL provider. No lan connection in my appartment yet

But i went from 512 Kbit download to around 14 Mbit and only 25 sek more. So i'm quite happay anyway. I peak at 1.6 MB/s now.

To bad the upload sucks ass though... Would be nice if skanova let the ADSL providers doubble the upload to 2 Mbit.

You have VDSL? Poor thing.

We (Telia) developed the VDSL technology with the assistance from a swedish university but when it turned out to not be stable enough to be useful, we decided to sell it to other DSL providers instead of taking on all the complaints we would get if we offered it to our customers. BBB/Bostream was one of the companies that picked up where we left off. But then, if it works for you, who am I to argue with that?

Who told you Skanova would somehow be restricting the upload speed? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if it was some guy from BBB or something. Anyway, FYI:

As you will understand from reading that page, it's a technical restriction of asymmetric DSL and has nothing to do with any restrictions set by Skanova.

Anyway, with the introduction of HSI to the swedish ADSL equipped phone centrals, no Telia ADSL customers will have to login anymore. However, "only" 60 or so phone centrals has been upgraded at this point so, give it a year or two and noone will have to use any connection keepers anymore. HSI also means support for ADSL2+ which enables speeds like 24mbit/s and above, soon you will also be able to recieve DigitalTV through your Telia ADSL Broadband... And there is more to come, believe me!

OK. Thank you for reassuring me, I was a bit worried there.

BTW, did I tell you that I have BBB's fiber? 10mbit/s in full duplex for 320 SEK/month.

Although, it would have been even better to have "stadsnät" where you have the ability to choose ISP on your fibre. You see, unlike Telia, BBB doesn't have to give other providers access to their network. They have a monopoly on their network, something that Telia is not allowed to by swedish law, even if it has nothing to do with the phone lines. I can only hope that they change this law someday so that I can finally get rid of BBB.

...Sorry, couldn't resist. I guess one could call it a work-related injury or something.

I've had Telia since the dawn of ADSL and haven't had more than the usual problems with internet connections (most of which are Microsoft related).

Was on my way to change to a 10 mb connection with Bostream that they had announced like forever but after 6 months of nothing I was offered from Telia an 8mbit upgrade from 0.5mbit for a 50skr cost difference and they connected me within a couple of weeks.

Has worked great since then. Hardly notice the login requirements, with 4 computers connected in my home network I have almost no downtime and besides my Amiga goes 24/7 these days doiing Rc5.

I guess it's alright to hate Telia, seems like the thing to do these days.

Whats really a shame is that they opened the market free to commercial actors. Things can only keep getting worse!

If it works for you great. BBB works better for me. So we are all happy people here.

Well, I'm not so much of a Telia user, even if I am a Telia employee, because like I said earlier, I am "forced" to choose BBB. That makes me more of an "unhappy" BBB user rather than a Telia user. But then, it's always a good thing to keep a close eye on your enemy...

huh.. dunno... sounds unlikely. but telia has had kind of a bad rep here in sweden, but i guess that is about to change as their speeds are getting better and their deals better all in all... but surely there must be someone else?

Well, that depends entirely on who you talk to. Fact is that according to SKI (Svenskt Kvalitetsindex), Telia has the most satisfied customers, which is saying alot considering that Telia has the largest market share in the swedish phone, mobile as well as the internet markets. So, either the competition is even worse, or Telia is simply that good. It all depends on how you look at it.
