| If you believe you have a copyright dispute with someone the smart thing to do is mail the author ( who is listed in that readme ) with at least some level of evidence.
Just making assertions on a public forum does you no credit whatsoever. |

| Everytime I read about a new icon set I ask myself how much of the realease CD will be taken by icon archives. :))) Last edited by Valwit on 15-Feb-2005 at 12:43 PM.

The stats at OS4 Depot show that every single month an icon archive (or PowerIcons in Oct 2004) was the most downloaded file -- I'd say Amiga users spend a lot of time on their icons! |

Yes I copied and modified the readme. But I didn't know that it's not usable by anyone else. It's just a simple readme file. If you were offended, I can change it. Just as simple as that. But again it's not a closed source thing or GPL'd item. Just readme! _________________ A1 G3-SE, 512 MB Kingston RAM, Radeon 9250, SiI680, 120 GB Seagate

that's nothing new at all :)) sometimes I think that's the only thing they do the whole day long: moving icons around. And when an icon has been everywhere on the workbench, then it's time to replace it with a new set :D |

No, if you used some gnome icons, remember that they're under gpl, so you should change your licensing since yours is a derived work...
@carlito
did you put (c) on your text? no? so it is a public domain document... Last edited by Amighista on 15-Feb-2005 at 08:27 PM.

| Ah... thanks, you saved me from downloading them! I regret I didn't find them that nice looking... but Ken's icons were more like it! So were Crystal Icons, as I mentioned earlier, I would highly recommend them! _________________ And may the AmigaGuide you!

It´s not as simple as that, a work is not automatically in the public domain just because you forget to put a (c) on it. You are allowed to quote parts of other peoples texts, but not everything. Even for a simple readme the original author should be respected. _________________ AMiGA

Not in the U.S. -- there was a time (years ago) that this was true, but not any more.
An artist is automatically granted copyright rights, whether or nor there is a © on the work. |
