Software News   Software News : JAmiga progressing
posted by elwood on 21-Mar-2005 19:26:51 (2666 reads)
JAmiga is now approaching a state where we feel comfortable about releasing the next version.
As a "preview" for all interested developers, we now do a daily snapshot of the cvs sources which can be downloaded from our website (JAmiga Download). This is currently configured to compile on Classic and MorphOS systems. I'm still waiting for input about AmigaOS 4.0.

Good work!
Let's hope an AOS4 native version will come soon!
Will it be possible to run OpenOffice for JAVA on this implementation?

Thx.

By "waiting for input" do you mean you've got OS4 testers who haven't yet reported back, or that you need OS4 testers?

They need OS4 coders to try to compile JAmiga for OS4 and report back to them.

Well, this is good news, and at least some progress on the Java front!

Gotta check the docs and makefiles, but at least initially it seems to want pthreads and I didn't see an os4 specific target in the daily tarball....

BTW, JAmiga IS accepting donations, just made one myself. As this seems to be the best chance for a Java implementation on AOS4, this is really a critical/important project...donate if you can.

There is a pthreads library posted to OS4Depot by the Friedens.

Actually JAmiga can be compiled without pthread, too. See config.h.
