Good software, but I still hate that license system.

Same here, I won't register until that's changed.

I also get a recoverable alert and the following error when FP exits...

***Command 'FryingPan' returned with 259 bytes of memory still allocated!

I don't like the register method either but..
How many DVD burning programs is available for OS4?

I do believe he wants to make a OS4 version but he
hasn't got the money for a µA1. So the more of us who
register will probably make an OS4 version a probability
rather than fantasy

0.4a didn't start on my machine, even locking it from use
needing a restart. This version seems to work ok until
I end it. Then shows a Grim Reaper.

Program uses per-drive registration. In other words, whenever You change, buy, upgrade, whatever Your drive to a newer and different one You have to re-register. Only the first registration is full-price; each next registration ("update") is cheaper, but still costs some.

Not a very slick system. Shameful even.

I wonder where the value "259" comes from? There is no way the OS4 system could allocate a memory block of such size.

I hope he's not trying to read the longword immediately before an allocated block to determine its size. That hack (which only worked by accident in earlier OS versions) is no longer allowed in OS4.

Maybe we can help him make it OS4-friendly by offering constructive advice and making it worthwhile by paying him his registration fee.

I think the per-drive idea is a good one. Sure, it'll cost a few Euro to change my drive, but it does mean that I can then move the old drive from one Amiga to another and the FP key with it.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to building some CDs and DVDs with it. Currently I only use expensive CD-RWs because I can't make ISO images.

[edit] OK, forget all that - I've just found the item in his FAQ that says he's not interested in any target platforms but 68k and AROS. Clearly a retro freak, so he's lost my money.

@tonyw

Well I've talked to the guy and the FAQ is wrong.
He just hasn't updated the thing. But I think he won't do
a OS4 version without a µA1.
He said he might have a deal with Guru Meditation
that may get him the µA1. But nothing has materialized
yet. Let's see what happens.

Yeah, I haven't tried it either.

Anyone know if it works with either a Lite-on CDRW or a sony dvdrw (I'm about to swap the burners in my my pc that I'm about to decommission over.

@The_Editor

A little secret (maybe) if you want to have the best hardware support
with Frying Pan. Tomasz has bought the NEC 3520A.
If he uses it you might guess it will be fully supported.

Hi all,

I tried it on my A1-SE (with sil680 IDE card) with no success. It keeps scanning my BenQ 40x12 CD-RW drive forever. Maybe it's the drive. But it works fine with MakeCD.

Anyone successful?

Firbodi

firbodi: you need to register probably to get support, the drivers are very limited in the demoversion.
