Internet News   Internet News : IntuitionBase.com update - Introducing new features.
   posted by Ryu on 28-Mar-2005 14:36:31 (5489 reads)
Quite a few things are new, and a few things have been tidied up:

*Cleaned up the images in our customisations section.
*Fixed the link in the features section to point to the Features PDF on our server.
*Added a new section titled "Multimeda", provides links to all the files we host.
*Italian translation of the "Case for PPC" article uploaded to the articles section.
*Last but not least Jonathan Haddock (GiGa) has created an unofficial µA1-C Handbook for all you µA1 owners out there to use.

As we approach our 1 year anniversary I would just like to take a moment to thank everyone who visits and who sends in data for inclusion.

@IntuitionBase & Darren

Thank you so much for this monumental effort!
Between this pdf and the work of Lyle Haze, Softhut, and others,
we are receiving high quality work all the way around.
Kudos!

Edit: (added)

Despite the faulty Mai docs,
The above comment STILL stands!

@Ryu

Page 4, first line of the table (Form Factor)-Micro ATX. Few lines earlier its Mini-ITX and that is correct.

Nice job

It's a great looking handbook, and we have a need for this document.

Unfortunately, the serial pinout is incorrect.

It is also incorrect at the AmigaRevolution web page.

It is also incorrect on the original MAI document.

I believe it will take a community effort to get the right information
out to the public, especially after the wrong information has been repeated
so many times.

I have reported the errors to Giga, and Nerp. I don't know who to contact
at MAI, but I hear they're not really available anyway.

The correct pinout is in http://www.ncscaug.us/ua1page1.htm

Please, PLEASE help get the correction out to the public instead of repeating
the same mistake again. It will take ALL of us to reverse this problem.

It is difficult for me to claim that I am right and everyone else must
be wrong.. If the error is mine, I will apologize. I tested my serial
port before posting my corrections.

I offer this in hopes of helping. No offense is intended.

Peace,
LyleHaze

@LyleHaze

OK. If you are saying it is OK to go public now, I go with you.
I will amend my user profile immediately and state:
Lyle is correct and everyone else who tested is correct too.
Lots of us worked on this one. OK?

@Number6,
I'm not sure what you mean.
If it helps to get the right information
into the peoples hands, I'm all for it.

Yes, Lyle is correct. All the documentation on the serial port is wrong.
I have a degree in electronics and measured the pin myself because I
couldn't get the serial port to work following the existing documentation.

I've been trying to tell people about this since January but nobody seems to
listen. I'm not sure what it's going to take to get the documentation changed.

@number6

So updates/corrections are not an option?

@klesterjr &
@thread

Please read Lyle Haze original article carefully.
Please read Softhut reply to Lyle's original article carefully.
Please do not read more into this than what the professionals have to say.
I am only a user who does some independent testing. OK?
Official recommendations, IMHO, should be coming from officials.

Why has intuitionbase started asking for a secure connection ?

Well, It brings the "can't make secure connection" pop up in Aweb anyway.

As for the serial port issue all I can do is appologise. I did get the PDF checked by someone who I thought would be able to point out any inaccuracies but it seems some things have slipped through.

Hopefully an updated fixed version will go up in a day or so.
