Hmm - although I'd love to get into AA development, I'm not too sure that I'm brave enough to fork out USD120 for things like a years' worth of updates...
History (and bitter experience) has shown me that money up front almost always seems to get wasted.

Hmmmm... AmigaInc have really jumped my request for AA....
Must have really impressed them.
Obviously, they're over-run with new developers.....
Ok. Fair go...I did only apply yesterday...but hey....I can't even give them my money.

Oh...wait...I'm OT...
Ummm.....neat......but.....I get their IDE product with AA don't I?
So, if I wait...errrrr....I don't need to worry about the updates....and ummm....
First I need to have problems to pay for support...
But even before that....I need AA so I can have problems....
Ummmm... You know what I mean...
Hey, does this AA thing come with a manual? Help system?
Or do I absolutely have to pay these guys to do anything?
Well, nice to know there's help available if you pay for it......I guess....
Hey.....isn't AmigaInc supposed to help me for free?

Ok. Going back to my happy place now.

This is just the Adept IDE. You need to buy this one and also buy the AA SDK. Right people?

Good on Amiga Inc. for finding a way to get Eclipse moved over to AA! This is the kind of thing that will help attract new developers. If only we had Java on OS4 et al.

And it seems it's time to break out the cheese. We gotta have something to go with all that whine from the comments so far...

Well I mean, "does M$ gives IDEs for free to their potential developers?".
I don't think so. Then BigBentheAussie is right when he says:

it seems the answer is yes.

Hate to say this but yeah... in some cases. ASP.NET Web Matrix - an IDE like development tool for web developers - is a free download from their www.asp.net site.

@ Thread

Well Adept is also freely downloadable. http://www.omniscience.us/downloads.html But if you want support, it is a paid subscription. To me, that seems fair enough.

@Thread

The Adept IDE (based on Eclipse) can be freely downloaded and the first tutorial can be downloaded for free as well. On top of that the IDE will come free with Amiga-Anywhere.
It is not ported to Amiga-Anywhere though. It will run on your host OS. Remember that this is a development kit, ment to run on Windows only for now.
I can't blame Omniscience for trying to get money back through support after all the work they already did and the stuff they give away for free.

Onno

Yes it does and it is a major improvement over the Tao-docs.
