| Interesting...
There's almost as many people who already have an A1 as want an A1 when OS4 is finished. (654 vs. 732)
There's almost as many people who don't want an A1 as already do (797 vs. 654)
About 20% of OS4 sales could come from people buying it to run on Classic/ACK/Shark hardware (367 out of 1753)
By releasing OS4 final, A1 owner numbers could more than double (currently 654, could increase by 732)
If, once OS4 final is released and all of the people who said they'll buy an A1 have done so, all A1 owners bought a copy of Pagestream 5 then Grasshopper LLC would get almost 175,000 USD!! | Interresting results.
If this result is as every other poll less than a third will have answered it.
Only a total of 263 Pegasos users?!? They must be really inactive on the net.
Good news is that 732 plan to buy AmigaOne, 187 will run OS4 on Blizzard and and 180 plan to buy some kind of OS4 kompatible accelerator.
Then probably multiply these number by three and you'll get a more accurate number. IMHO anyway! _________________ /Harry

| But it's kind of wierd.
With this low number of MicroA1 buyers, I don't know why it's hard to find them. When OS4 is released it must be close to impossible to get a hold of one.

Yeah, that surprised me, too...
I'd like to see another question - "If you had the choice between the µA1-C and µA1-I, which would you choose?" Last edited by Chunder on 03-May-2005 at 02:30 PM.

| My first verry positive impression is that there will be possible 50.000 OS4 users in lets say 5 years from now and if that continues it would be 1.000.000 users in 10 years from now.
Yes, i know, i am an optimist.
How do i get to these numbers, well if every OS4 user convince 1 user a year to use OS4 that would do it think. Hmm, maybe my numbers are not realistic but it is possible. _________________ A1G3-SE + OS4.1 u1 iso (x2)

MicroA1-C, just because of the CPU upgrade. You know I'm just being positive. Who knows when they are available!

That'd be really hard to do. Do you know why? The reason we're all comfortable with AmigaOS and think that it's user-friendly is that we've been using it for about 10 years.
For a brand new user, the terminology is unknow, let alone using the OS. Books, manuals and toturials not being available don't help people, either users or coders.
Maybe I should start writing manuals instead of complaining

| As for (u)A1 owners - wouldn't be better to simply read few actual serial numbers on motherboards by few dealers [I suppose there is some logic in this tiny numbers ]
I'm wandering what is the real number of (u)A1/Peg owners... _________________ Harthon gerithach raid gelin a chwest adel thraw lín :)

| Guess, I'm one of the 19. None of the choices exactly fit me, though several are a possibiliy. But I did leave a comment.

Don't worry, your comments will be sent to Hyperion and Eyetech. There were 100's and 100's of comments in the survey results. I won't make them public but Eyetech and Hyperion have asked to see them. Hopefully they will use this information wisely in the future... Last edited by HammerD on 03-May-2005 at 03:11 PM.

How did you deal with situations where multiple votes were made on one ballot? e.g. I will buy an A1 when OS4 final is released, but I will also buy OS4 for by BlizzardPPC... two boxes checked, but only one vote. Should it have been two votes?? _________________

There were some entries that had multiple votes and they were counted as required (separately), if it made sense. Normally the person would make a comment if they had eg. an AmigaONE and a blizzard PPC, so I could understand what they were trying to say.
But the survey was either a "YES" I own an AmigaONE, or a "NO" I don't (with multiple reasons why "NO"...).
That is why I didn't give percentages, because even though there were 2300 or so valid entries, some people had a classic amiga with ppc as well as an AmigaONE.
But the bottom line was to determine the number of AmigaONE owners...so if people chose other things as well that was just a bonus. _________________ AmigaOS 4.x Beta Tester - Classic Amiga enthusiast - http://www.hd-zone.com is my Amiga Blog, check it out!

| why not percentage with real figures in quote ? that would give an even better overview IMHO.
Anyway thanks for this survey ! Lio
EDIT : just saw why you did not include percentage Last edited by lionstorm on 03-May-2005 at 03:55 PM.

| Interesting results. Although like various people pointed out already it's impossible to conclude any concrete A1 userbase figures the results do provide some hints on some interesting percentages.
Roughly:
27.5 % of the online Amiga community already owns an AmigaOne. 30.9% of the online Amiga community plans to buy an AmigaOne within 12 months or with the OS4 final release. 15.5% will not get an AmigaOne, but plans to use AmigaOS4 together with their classic systems.
So it seems AmigaOS4 will cover nearly 3/4 of the online Amiga community when finished. Seems like an excellent score to me! Last edited by MikeB on 03-May-2005 at 04:01 PM.

Now that's the kind of attitude we need around here. The platform is just starting to make a comeback of sorts. It will take time. If you can, help. Complaining doesn't help. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead

Actually, it's closer to 72%, but still... _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). | I didn't have my board when the survey was going on, so you'll have to add one to the µA1-C owners. |
