SDK Browser looks good. If I can make wishes, could the viewer pane be tabbed, so that multiple documents can be shown easily? Colored include file viewing would also be great but that maybe more work. |

| All this sounds really really interesting. But I'd like to see something more of the tools to come. Maybe a screenshot or even a mockup of the GUI builder?

| Damn I wish I was a programmer!
Maybe I have to learn C soon So I can use this fantastic (I think it's going to be) software. _________________ /Harry

Thanks! You should be getting your email on how to get your personal registered copy (currently v1.0.2.5) very soon.

Both of these items are already on the list for the commercial version.
Later versions will also integrate with AVD's Text Editor, which means you can choose to open any SDK Browser document directly into the Text Editor under a new or existing tabbed view. You will even be able to hide the SDK Browser viewer pane and redirect all of it's display to the Text Editor instead.

OK, Shoe.
You asked for it, you got it. Here is a screenshot of the current ReAction/BOOPSI Interface builder from AVD's GUI Builder component. Sorry, no mockups here, this is a screenshot of v0.1.0.23 which was used to construct this simple example in about 30 seconds.
To give you an idea of what your looking at in this screenshot, the ListBrowser view on the left contains all the ReAction/BOOPSI objects available within the builder. The middle window represents the interactive layout of the GUI interface being built. The window on the right side is the live interface itself.
The GUI Builder's core engine can dynamically create the entire interface in real time. This allows the user to freely create and experiment with different layout ideas literally in seconds. Add, remove, move, edit, rename, toggle horizontal/vertical layouts, all in a few quick clicks of the mouse.
Some features used to build this example: - Double-Click on the Group/Object from the available list to add it to the interface/live window - Use inline editing in the Interface window to rename window title/gadget text - Double-Click on Layout group to toggle them from Horizontal to Vertical and vice versa - Click the CheckBox next to the Layout group to "lock" that group of objects to use the smallest amount of space possible - Use Interface window buttons/hotkeys to move objects or groups around (later this will also use drag & drop sorting as well)
Some features in the works: - Double-Click or Menu-Select an object within the Interface window to open it's "Properties" or "Settings" window to edit all Attribute Tags related to that object. - Load and Save Interface layouts to XML format. - Generate all "C" code necessary to build the interface in your application. (Defaults to output code for use with the AVD Template Project) - MUCH, MUCH, more.
Keep in mind that this version is still VERY early in it's development, representing only about a week of actual coding time, so everything still can and will change.
First AVD GUI Builder Screenshot
PS: Subscribers should have this early version to play with in a matter of days.
Best Regards,

| I hadn't noticed the FDSP before but it's a really novel and cool way to finance some new software. Paying all that money up-front would be pretty painful, but $10 a month is small enough to be easily manageable, so I've just signed up.
The screenshot looks pretty promising. I'm a complete novice at C programming (although I've been using and programming computers since I was about 5) so AVD looks like it will be really helpful in learning how to program on the Amiga.
Also it's nice to be able to support software development on OS4 without breaking the bank! Keep up the good work.

The GUI builder sounds nice. Just one question though. I have seen some other attempts at GUI builders in the past for the Amiga, but they all had a big problem: whenever you generated code again (for example when adding a button), the code you've added to the generated code gets lost. Do you have any plans on doing something like VC++ or other IDE's that just 'insert' the (newly) generated code? I hope I made the question clear. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

| Ok, the preview of the GUI builder sold me. I just signed up and downloaded the AVD and SDK Browser.
What should I expect to happen next? I presume I'll be sent a secret decoder ring which will allow me access to the members only area? _________________ Kevin - X1000 First Contact / uA1

I understand exactly what you are talking about, and YES the code generation routines for AVD in general (including the GUI Builder component) will allow you to insert (and keep) your own code additions intact, even when the interface is changed or updated.

Shortly after signing up, you should receive an email with your private access information for the "members only" area.
Your "secret decoder ring" is now ready and on it's way. :)
