Internet News   Internet News : DevContest: 1 project revealed, 1 project added.
   posted by elwood on 3-Aug-2005 14:09:44 (2421 reads)
Hello Amiga Community,

The DevContest reveals the secret project: "PCB", a PCB designer for all hardware geeks out there (and it seems there are a lot ). PCB is coded by Chip.

Also a new project gets into the contest: "Pixle paint" by Patrick Thomas. This is a paint software that will bring DPaint and Brilliance features to AmigaOS 4.

2 months to go before you submit your projects.
4 months to go before contest deadline (1st December).

See you on next update!

Oops, Pixle Paint is by Patrick Thomas. Sorry for that.
Can a moderator fix that? Thanks.

Neat! It'd be cool to see other things found in the GEDA suite ported in time as well. PCB should be good for hobbyist types of things, though it did look unable to do some very advanced designs due to limits on drawing grid not being small enough. But if you're not trying to design very fine pitch things, PCB looks quite good. Maybe I'll dust off one of my old ideas to tinker with this port. Schematic is of course written on a c ocktail napkin somewhere but I haven't seen it in some time, I'll have to go on a quest for it someday.

They moderated what kind of napkin I used?? Neat!

@billt

Huh huh huh huh. Dude, you said ####tail.

And the forum moderated it. What's next? I bet they'll add "chicken" to the list of bad words next

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

It seems Elwood's idea about encouraging new software developments finally worked. I am really happy that these apps are developed for OS4, the biggest lack of our OS is new and useful software. Keep the good work guys! (And go-go Chip! )
