   posted by kgrach on 31-Aug-2005 21:39:47 (4328 reads)
Revanche LLC now has 512 Meg PC-133 ECC CL2 SODIMM made specifically for the uA1 and guaranteed to work for $135.00.

We have also found a Memory Manufacturer who has agreed to make the special 1 Gig PC-133 ECC CL2 SODIMM needed for the uA1 machines at a cost of $548.00.

I sure wish that I could afford the Gig; but I will probably just have to settle for the 512 Meg one.

Thank you for making these available Kurt!

I'm sure that those who like to display hundreds of thumbnail images would appreciate it. But for me, it would just be an investment for the future. I'm not sure how long these SODIMMs will continue to be available. And since the uA1 only has one slot for RAM, it would be nice to buy a stick that will meet the needs of the future.

One can never have too much RAM, especially when it comes to graphics. The price of the 1G is a little to steep for me, that's 4x the cost of the 512Mb stick. I do intend to get the 512Mb stick by the time OS4 is released.

Worlds largest Ram Disk

I'd like to get a 1Gb dimm for my XE, but those seem to be hard to find, and even harder to find one that it is quaranteed to work, so this is good news for µA1-owners.

@Dan
That’s only £298.84 which is about the same amount of money as I spent buying £512MB of EEC REG ram 2 years an ago for my PC.

It’s also less than I paid for 256MB for my Athlon 500 when it first came out.

So I would say that’s adding 1GB of ram is quite cheap.

As for why, so we can run Mac on Linux or just Linux well while we are still waiting on more apps being ported to OS4.

Got to get past the 764mb barrier first....
We don't currently have high-mem support in the kernels.

Fakemem would be cheaper and give the same results
