| Well, we know there are a few people around the boards here who still like to play UT as well, and we meet on a regular basis to play. I wish UT was available for Amiga also. It would be great if the code was released like QI/QII/QIII and all. We do the QII thing sometimes too, but it's mostly a duplicate effort with the QII server already running here on AW.net. |

Can you elaborate a bit on what "properly" means so that we can pass the word along to the person running the server? |

| It is possible that the latest version of UT (4.36 officially) are not backwards compatible enough for the DC version. 4.36 and higher requires at 4.32 to connect. No idea if this is a factor, but just a thought.

| Just wanted to let everyone know that the server is now running version 5.03 of Monster Hunt. I don't seem to be able to edit the original news item. |

| Let's see if I get this right.
You want to get a bunch of Amiga gamers together to play a game that isn't available for the Amiga? Or is it?
Kind regards,

| Yep, you got it right. Every single one of us own Amiga's. Does this mean that we are forbidden to touch anything else or to play a game on anything else? Beyond the two A3000's and two A1000's that I own, I also have about 3 Macs, and several PC's. SO WHAT???! We are Amiga users, and we also like to play UT. Is that a crime for Christs' sake???
I'm so sick of this "holy attitude" some of you possess. It's that sort of attitude (same as the Linux crowd have) that pushes people farther away from even listening to the name "Amiga". I'm about ready to go over and buy a Pegasos. I think Theodosius had the right idea after all....
@Sbaitso
No I will not delete this thread... If anyone wants to play, they can come over and play, if not, who cares???
OH, and BTW, I bet if you took a Poll, there are FAR MORE Amiga Users here who have PC's and Macs than there are "Amiga Elite Exclusively". Last edited by Herewegoagain on 05-Sep-2005 at 11:12 PM. Last edited by Herewegoagain on 05-Sep-2005 at 11:10 PM.

Lets see, most people playing Q2 on the site's server are using a machine other than an Amiga, so whats your point?

| Whats Monster Hunt? Is it some sort of bonus pack and is it downloadable from this site like the others were? When I google it I get all sorts of crap.
(and if there was a Amiga version I would still use the PC as it has more grunt) _________________

| Monster Hunt is a co-op game where everyone on the team hunts down the monters on the map and then makes their way to an end point. You can download it here:

Look at the links on the right side. |

There seems to be a misunderstanding here.
"the NC / SC Amiga User Group will be hosting an Unreal Tournament Monster Hunt party. Everyone is invited to attend."
That sounds like Unreal Tournament is available for Amiga OS, doesn't it?
My point is Unreal Tournament is not available for AmigaOS (at this time), so I was wondering why they are "gathering the AMIGA gamers together" for this. Maybe they should gather the Unreal players together the next time?
Please note that I have no problem with people using an other system besides the Amiga. I think there is nothing with people playing Q2 on this site's sever with other systems, as long as I can join them using one of my Amigas.
Have fun at the monster hunt party. I can't join you right now. My PC is too slow for Unreal Tournament, and my Amiga isn't supported.
Kind regards,
Dennis |

No, not really. The point of the whole thing is to participate in an activity that many of us like to do as a community. I host a UT server on weekends just for the sole purpose of running it for our Amiga user group members. It has been a great tool for pulling in plain ole' PC folks into our group just to learn about the Amiga platform. Even though we can't play UT on a "geniune" Amiga, I would rather play online with fellow Amigans than with total strangers outside the community. There is level of comfort for me personally knowing that I am playing with fellow Amigans.
"I think there is nothing with people playing Q2 on this site's sever with other systems, as long as I can join them using one of my Amigas."
Have you tried it? Unless you have an A1 or a 3D accelerated classic, its slow as hell for network play.
This whole issue should really be a moot point. This very site used to host a UT server along side Q2. There is obviously a lot of UT fans around here.
How old is your PC? Considering the age of the game, it shouldn't be that hard to run.

| The original minimum specs called for a 200MHz CPU, 32MB Ram, DX7.0 sound card, PCI 8MB 3D accellerator (recommended) and 490MB hard disk space. Concidering it was available for PC, Mac and Linux, it's a shame that Amiga never got a port of this game.

Yeah, we use to have quite a few of the users here join in on the old AW UT server. I think that the Friedens may have even joined in a game or two, but cant remember specifically. |
