Announcement   Announcement : Total Amiga Announces Reduced USA and Canada Pricing
posted by rhino on 30-Sep-2005 20:09:28 (2967 reads)
Total Amiga magazine is happy to announce a reduction of about 25% in the cost of a 4 issue subscription posted to the USA or Canada. To acheive this we have come to an agreement with Greg Condon, from the PANORAMA Amiga user group of Vancouver, to print a second run of the magazine in Canada. Printing in Canada reduces our postage costs both within Canada and to the USA enabling us to dramatically reduce the cost of a subscription.

A four issue subscription to either the USA or Canada will now cost only 15UKP (about 26USD) as compared to the the old price of 20UKP (35USD). Copies of the current issue of Total Amiga will now cost USA and Canadian buyers only 4.50UKP (8USD) compared to 6.00UKP previously. Back issue prices will also be reduced once back issue from the Canadian print runs are available.

Please note: all USD conversions are approximate, based on the current
exchange rate at xe.com.

As a "thank you" for their support, and to reflect our reduced costs, all existing subscribers in the USA or Canada with two or more issues outstanding on their subscription will have an extra issue added free of charge. This will happen automatically, subscribers who have supplied us with an e-mail address should receive a personal e-mail confirming this over the weekend.

Orders for Total Amiga subscriptions to the USA and Canada will continue to be taken via the Total Amiga web site (where you can pay using your credit/debit card via PayPal) or through ForeMatt Home Computing who can accept credit card orders over the phone. The new US/Canada pricing is available on the Total Amiga web site now.

Total Amiga is also available through local Amiga dealers in many countries. We will be offering dealers in the USA and Canada a similar postage cost reduction from the next issue onwards. If you are a dealer interested in stocking the magazine please visit our web site for more information.

We hope this price reduction will benefit our existing subscribers in the USA and Canada and will also enable more Amiga users in those countries to enjoy the only English language print Amiga magazine currently available.

Total Amiga would like to thank Greg for volunteering to take on the responsibility of printing and distributing the magazine in North America.

Gee, thanks to all involved!

I never thought the price was that high considering what we used to pay for mags from the UK but a price break is a price break. Thanks again.

We were approached by Greg Condon and when we realised he was serious and capable it was a no brainer for us

Well the higher price to Canada and the States was due to high postage costs, hopefully by reducing the price we may attract many more subscribers

The price drop is good news.

However the slow pace of Canada Post might not mean that the magazine actually arrives earlier for us subscribers in Canada. Especially if we are far from Vancouver

@busytech

Here are Canada Post's delivery standards for mailings within Canada:

LOCAL 2 business days
WITHIN A PROVINCE 3 business days
NATIONAL 4 business days

In my experience these standards pretty much match the service I have received.

Since you live in a major metro centre I don't expect you to have any problems receiving the mailings within the standard 4 business days.

PANORAMA -- now there's a blast from the past. Hands up everyone who remembers their PD series from back in the late eighties. I haven't heard (or seen) the name in years, nice to know there are still active members around. Especially ones with such good ideas to contribute.

(nitpick: Hmm, actually, wasn't it PaNorAmA?)

Best regards,

Niels

I agree with these delivery standards,

however mail from UK usually takes 4 days to arrive, which would be the same as a delivery from Vancouver.

I am pleased with the high quality of your magazine. I hope the paper and printing does not lessen. I keep these forever. I also show them off to the uneducated.

I certainly hope more people will subscribe. I am about 165 miles south of Vancouver. My copy should not take long to arrive. I would much rather read a magazine I can hold in my hands than any on screen one.

The price drop and free issue are well received here, thanks. You are doing a fine job.

The proof he sent us was excellent quality, with a nice "glossy" cover

Cool, we didn't want anyone who recently (before price drop) subscribed to feel ripped off or anything so decided to add an extra free issue to ther subscription

Thanks, doing what we can with limited resources and time.

Maybe Total Amiga could offer a online subscription for even less?..By having a subscriber download and print each issue if desired...that would further save on local printing costs and mailing ...and easier on the envoirment too. Just an idea.

This has been asked so many times now, but we want to continue as a print magazine only (it's what everyone seems to want). We would no longer continue if the magazine turned into just a downloadable PDF, it is the fact we "produce" something that is liked by others that keeps us motivated.
