Software News   Software News : WarpView 0.5 Released
   posted by COBRA on 6-Nov-2005 9:45:50 (2756 reads)
A new version of WarpView is available on OS4Depot.Net.

Changes in this version:
- Implemented 90 degree rotation (animated)
- Added menus and possibility to open more files without exiting
- Fixed scrolling (it was only possible to scroll when zoomed in so that both width and height would no longer fit in the screen)
- Added on-screen info display (filename, zoom) with timeout
- Several minor improvements and bugfixes

Love it!
An animated zoom function would be sweet too.

What was the discussion about earlier? Doesn't the program use Warp3D when rotating the images in real time? If not, dang that's smooth!
Also, is it possible to 'pre load' the next image in the queue so it loads that pic while I'm looking at the current one. (I think the ms-windows image viewer does that)

Thanks a lot for this program!

Ok, so prior version consistently took out the USB stack by doing:
1. Open an image
2. zoom in a ways (200% or more)
3. Middle grab image and move around rapidly
4. Lose USB stack

Now, the second you middle mouse the image, it resets to the original zoom factor...why?

Doesn't crash USB, but makes zoom less useful IMO..

@wegster

because without a clipping routine, when you try to rotate while zoomed in, you get distortions, thus I have changed the code not to allow that.

@Cobra

Thanks, although I'm guessing the image rotation is really meant as a demo more than anything useful? Or is it going to become an editor at some point?

Any ideas on why/how the prior version consistently killed my USB stack?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@wegster

Indeed, 3D rotation is there just to show the possibilities with Warp3D, I plan to do some fancy wipes this way. Usefullness is in the speed and quality of the 2D image scaling. Also the new 90 degree rotation is very useful IMHO when viewing pictures coming from digital cameras.

I have no idea why the previous version killed your USB stack, I don't really see a connection there.

@Cobra - thanks, got it

I didn't either, but it was reproducible time and again for me, consistently. Of course, that doesn't narrow down the possible cause much, other than 'it happened.' May be something else odd going on like the past network/SBLive/Via issues and now the Radeon + sound issues.
