| amen to all of the above
PerfectPaint is my main paint package I use, some prefer TVPaint but for me its PFP all the way, I even prefer it to commercial packages like Photogenics and ArtEffect. Ask cyka, he knows i always user PFP for my gfx needs _________________ Regards Darren 'Ryu' Glenn ---------------------------- www.IntuitionBase.com - Your Guide to Amiga OS4.x and the AmigaOne www.Bambi-Amiga.co.uk - My A1200 webserver, running 24/7/365

| It's good that we have atleast one actively updated excellent paint package for the new amigas and for the classic amigas with gfx cards. Both Photogenics and PPaint are good but development of those has stopped. |

| Hmmmmm, it's free alright - but it's not as simple as that.
Personally I have never had ANY success whatsoever with PerfectPaint as a program. I'm not saying it's a rubbish program, or that I don't appreciate support for the Amiga Platform - because I do, but unfortunately one of my pet hates with regard to software is incomplete archives.
If I want to download, install and use someone's piece of software, I like to be able to download an archive and have everything that I need available. If there is no installation script, as is the case with PerfectPaint (in fairness it IS free) then I like to be able to look up a readme file which details all the system files that are required by the program and where PerfectPaint will be looking for them.
What I don't like, is when I find that the system files required by a program are not made available with the downloadable archive. So then you have to go searching around the internet or other software disks to try to obtain the files that you need JUST to get it working.
Ordinarily I wouldn't have given Perfect Paint anymore time of day after I found out that there were files required which were missing, because as I said that really is a pet hate of mine, but I had heard it was a nice program off others so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and set off to find all the system files it required. I managed to find them all on Aminet, so I downloaded and copied them across to the relevant parts of my system.
So after having done that, I tried starting the program again. It started up, I was presented with a screen and was able to load in pictures. But unfortunately there is still something missing as most of the GUI requestors were completely blank for some reason, providing me with no information..
That was as far as I ever got with Perfect Paint, I never bothered to investigate it further to be honest. I just don't like incomplete archives, it really gets up my nose. So Perfect Paint could be a dream of a program to use, but I'll never know one way or another unless a tidier archive can be supplied in the future.
Sorry if that sounded negative, I'm really not putting down the program - as I said it might be an excellent little proggie. But there we are. What does everyone else think of it, did you manage to get it working properly?
