Software News   Software News : GNU grep 2.5.1a
   posted by hnl_dk on 3-Jan-2006 14:37:26 (2567 reads)
AmigaOS4 port of GNU grep

The grep command searches one or more input files for lines containing a match to a specified pattern. By default, grep prints the matching lines.

This port is making use of the PCRE library, so that is a dependency.

If You want to use of configure scripts, when porting software, then this is a must...

Please read the original README file and/or visit the official website: http://www.gnu.org/software/grep/

I have made an upload to AmigaOS.dk, OS4Depot.net and Aminet.net

For comments on the port and possible bugfixes, please send an email to me.

Best regards,
hnl_dk - Henning Nielsen Lund

This is great stuff! The native OS4 SDK is growing ever stronger.

BTW, do you happen to have a donate button? You may want to consider signing up for one if you haven't already done so.

P.S. nicomen was having some probs getting a fully working diffutils port...

That was my plan and a very cool thing is that I am now not using linux, to cross compile... everything is done on AmigaOS4 now (except, when I am having quality time with the wife in front of the TV - then I am coding using her windows maschine and gVim - but still compiling it using OS4).

Not yet, but if someone would like to donate something to me, would I like to try getting such a button (I am in serious need of money at the moment).

edit: did just add a donation button to my website

I need to finish my configure environment (including libtool, so we should be able to configure libraries in the future - I am too lazy to compile everything manually ) before I can look at something else... But I would like to have a look, when I am done

Hi

Great stuff !

Yes we need developers to put up donation buttons or even a bounty system here.

I would love to help pay for ports !

I am serious about this

cheers, asy

It should get into the SDK...

@all

I am also going to make a version that is going to use amiga paths for people using it for non porting efforts (will release it later this day)
