Software News   Software News : Epistula - Plugin Developers Release
   posted by Slash on 10-Feb-2006 20:29:20 (4393 reads)
I am pleased to announce that I have released the latest AmigaOS 4 version of Epistula tonight, along with a preliminary Plugin Development Kit!

They are available from the Epistula homepage: http://www.the-snakepit.co.uk/epistula/

Unfortunately, this version doesn't come with any plugins, as the MSN plugin requires the latest version of codesets.library to be released before I can offer it for download.

However, the Plugin Development Kit comes with necessary include files, an autodoc and a fully out-of-the-box GCC compilable skeleton plugin for any budding ICQ,IRC,AIM,Yahoo programmers to get their teeth into.

Hopefully, I'll be able to release the MSN plugin later this week after clearing the release of codesets.library.

Slash- great to see it!

One comment though- you have links for ICQ Plugin and plugin source, which are 404/Not Found..

Sweet! Someone build an AIM plugin!

I might try but I've been kind of tied up for the past few months...

@All
Thanks for the kind words I know the ICQ plugin and source are missing but I'll have them up today. Got to get it fixed first.

@Helgis
The internal icons (apart from the toolbars) can't be changed yet and aren't likely to be able to be changed any time soon, sorry, low priority at the minute.

Regarding new features of OS4; care to elaborate on what you mean, and/or expect?

Thanks,
Daniel

Hehe just the usual airtalk by Helgis. Don't bother.

The important thing is to get the main things working as they should.

* The chat. Should work with every MSN version including the newer 7.5.x versions
* File send/recieve. Also support for all possible MSN versions.

After these two are ready then fancy GUI stuff and additional plugins & stuff.

All IMHO of course.

EDIT: The locale files aren't up yet either I noticed. Intensional?

@Samwel

Aye, I thought as much. Or maybe he meant new Kens icons for the latest features of OS4. Annnnyway...

I'm busy uploading everything now so the catalogs shouldn't be long getting put up there.

@All

My ICQ plugin is now downloadable, along with its rather messy and confusing source code, and reference source code I was using; YSMV7.

It seems to login OK for me and I get the only contact up that I have in ICQ, but I can't test it fully as I don't have any other contacts in ICQ because I don't use it.

Before anyone complains, that's as far as I got with ICQ, no chatting, no status changes for contacts; only the buddy list is interpreted and hopefully displayed.

Nice work slash. I already registered it, just for support, although it is not usable yet. I hope that an icq and a msn plugin to be available as soon as possible.

I'd like to ask you if the source of the very good jabberwocky is helpfull for writing those plugins. So using them could embrace the development of these plugins.

Also, does it use antialised fonts in the contact windows?

Keep up the good work my friend.

@Keyserling

The reason that people are using Messenger is that other people uses it...

I'm thinking that it's a real shame that ICQ isn't as big as they used to be since the whole idea is theirs, not M$... I hate them for taking every good idea and make it their own...
