| this SFS is not compatible with old partitions !!!
The two SFS FS must be keept if you have both type partitions (older ones, and new ones) Last edited by Tonton_Pascal on 18-Feb-2006 at 10:16 PM.

| awesome news! big breakthrough for amiga file systems. :) thank you hyperion, and thank you sfs maintainers! I'd donate if only I wasnt trying to pay off bills I've accumulated over the past few weeks.. (x-arcade stick, 512mb ram for the a1, dentist fissure sealants, sports channels..) If all goes according to plan I can drop in a few $$ in 3-4 weeks. This is a project that really deserves support. :) |

| Wahoo that’s OS4 another step closer to making Amiga OS a top multi media OS again as now we can create and store large multimedia files again such as DVD images ready for and large uncompressed audio and video files before burning them to DVD or multiple CD’s.
Now we just need some good DVD burning software and software support for mounting DVD images so we can test them before burning them to DVD. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar

Ever thou I don’t own an AmigaOne I have just made a donation to show my support for all the hard work put into SFS over the years. I still use it on my classic Amiga but I am running a some what old version as I have not updated since OS3.9 was released as I do not feel confident updating file systems without backing up all my data first. But I look forward to using the new version when OS4 is released for BlizzardPPC hardware and/or new hardware is made available to run OS4 on. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar

And you know the best bit --- things like "wc 2003 03-10-19_Movie_Rocky_Iii.ps" actually work...Last edited by umisef on 19-Feb-2006 at 11:11 PM.

I don't know where people get the impresion that DVD files are 4.7 gig. with the exception of thick as a brick I don't know any other song that fills an entire CD.
NO COMMERCIAL DVD is ever made of a single file. you can mount and test DVD's on systems that don't support 64bit. silly argument that without 64bit you can't burn DVD's totaly UNTRUE.
again super large files other than a RAW dump of your DV Tape don't exist in REAL LIFE. Even then having your FIREWIRE SOFTWARE ( THAT DOESN"T EXIST RIGHT NOW ON THE AMIGA ) break up your raw DVtape into 2 gig chapters for editing would mean nothing in terms of using or editing the video. the only dif would be instead of one single file you would have multiples and again any editing process on any machine always results in have mutiple files anyway.
you guy's are aiming for space ships when we don't even have carts. what we need are
Firewire support video editing software. DVD authoring software
all of which can be accomplished easily without 64 BIT file sizes.
priorities people.
GRRRR!!!!
Besides you can't load a 15gig file into memory now can you. 2 gig limit there unless you want to chuck all backward compatibility.

That was obviously a dig at my screenshot.
Try looking at the picture again. You will then notice that the file Whole0002 lives in the RENDERED drive, Not the Capture drive !!
All just standard - Nothing special, files.
I thought "Freudian mode" in males was "On" by default ?

| IS there any possibilty that SFS will be become the offical OS4 file system?
Not tried this new one, but the version that came with pre4 is notably fast than FFS. _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011

You are right where the AmigaOne is concerned; It has a 32 bit CPU.
However, the world is just about moving on to 64 bit CPUs, and on THOSE you can map that 15 gig file into your process's address space without any problems (even if you have nowhere near 15 gig of actual memory).
Which reminds me --- one of the advantages of the virtual memory system in OS4 was supposed to be the ability to mmap(). Did that ever get implemented? |
