| First try on OS4. I put PointRider in C: and tried it in shell. File not executable changed the flag and got: [pointrider] MOle.c:529: failed assertion "add_bbdlist < 0". Abnormal program termination ***Command 'pointrider' returned with unfreed signals 0C000000!
I only have PowerPoint 2000 plus files, that make use of background pictures and hyperlinks. Here is the Snoopdos log. Do I need those SDL things too?
Count Process Name Action Target Name Options Res. ----- ------------ ------ ----------- ------- ---- 3 [3] pointrider Open CONSOLE: Write OK 4 [3] pointrider ChangeDir Env: 5 [3] pointrider Open SDL_VIDEODRIVER Read Fail 6 [3] pointrider ChangeDir Data:Hikoi_matauranga/Hikoi 7 [3] pointrider ChangeDir Env: 8 [3] pointrider Open SDL_DEBUG Read Fail 9 [3] pointrider ChangeDir Data:Hikoi_matauranga/Hikoi 10 [3] pointrider ChangeDir Env: 11 [3] pointrider Open SDL_DEBUG Read Fail 12 [3] pointrider ChangeDir Data:Hikoi_matauranga/Hikoi 13 [3] pointrider Open ManukauCoast.ppt Read OK

| After more tests I got some made with the latest version of PowerPoint to load and run but texts and images did not sync. One image turned up on a number of slides to which it did not belong. Generally the text was out by one slide and only partly readable. Some images were rather distorted, possibly some that were resized within PowerPoint itself though most were the correct size and position. Hyperlinks did not work. Some other shows made at the same time would not load or gave the error reported previously.
As I use background images for context their absence was a big drawback on what I could see. I personally don't know anyone still using windows 97 so am not sure how useful this beta could be but I am delighted that you are working on this much needed utility.

| Thanks for releasing this beta.
Folks may find some kinks for you to iron out. Keep working, we sure appreciate it!

| Thanks all !
Zorro : I thought the doubt around this special day was funny :)
Noel Fuller : Someone else reported a such error that I didn't see with the 120 files I tested. All the files I have are PowerPoint 97 ones (I know that reading the real signature of the file, even for files from my Office 2000) and I don't know if the PP2000 files are different : you can't know how the format is vicious. I suggest you to send me some faulty files.
The background support will come and this feature seems obvious but the format describes 2 or 3 ways to do that and when you think you have found the right value ... you're still wrong. You can't imagine what I have to do to find the colour of the background !! |

They range from 70 MB to 137 MB so no good over dialup. I could send you a CD if I had an address.
They are not faulty on windows 2000 or windows XP if that is the name. So long since I used it. My clients at the time favoured win 2000 so I had to forget XP.

| Noel Fuller : Wow ! Your PPS files seem to be quite extreme by their size !! But that will be good for testing PointRider. To have my address, you can send me an email at : pointrider free fr |

| Excellent stuff, worked well with the few pps files I have here (97?), keep up the good work, look forward to the GUI and improvements over time... then no doubt we will "feature" it in Total Amiga magazine Last edited by sicky on 02-Apr-2006 at 05:49 PM.

| Speaking of YAM, how can I configure it to use PointRider? I set the MIME types, but must be doing something wrong.
image/powerpoint .pps PointRider "%s"
Not working... :(
Help, please! |
