| Now, the obligatory question: How fast can we get OS4 running on this?

| And this is relavent to OS4 in what way? Why is this kind of news permitted but other news such as pegasos news etc ..... NOT permitted? Both COULD run OS4 but none do - so isn't that a double standard or am I missing something here?
Just a thought.

In a way that is a potential cpu target for an OS4 enabled device _________________ No PowerPC, No Fun Make Amiga Great Again

Depends on the context.
Factor in the competition environment during the product’s release date. _________________ Amiga 1200 (rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32/RPi CM4/Emu68) Amiga 500 (rev 6A, ECS, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 4B/Emu68) Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB

General PPC news has been published here since the beginning of time and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.
PPC hardware (mobo) news is published here if it's a new release, major revision etc.
@Billt
Neat find, I'll take a closer look on it on my lunch break. :) |

| Good news but not for Amigas survival. "Our" problem is not to find a suitable processor or platform. Getting a license from Amiga Inc is. _________________ AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they'd go faster.-- D.Haynie

A search gave 83 hits in news, news items where pegasos somehow was mentioned, so no, pegasos news is not forbidden, but this is an amiga classic/ Aone news/information site (IMHO), and there is allready good sites for pegasos and morphos news/information. _________________

Why aren't Hyperion a member of Power.org? |
Some possible answers which I have zero real-world evidence that any are remotely true:
(wild speculation) 1a. Maybe they can't afford the paid corporate membership levels, which start at US$10000.
1.b Maybe as a result they do belong as individual free developer members?
2. Maybe they are not interested.
3. Maybe they prefer to keep some things private from certain organizations (and I don't intend this to mean keep things from Genesi, but from ANYONE Hyperion may not be ready to discuss things with) and talk to other companies individualy rather than in a more public forum.
4. Maybe they are interested in something like power.org, but it doesn't currently offer something that they feel is worth their membership fee. Perhaps in the future this will change and they'll sign up.
5. Maybe they are interested in it as-is today but are waiting for better timing to show themselves there. (/wild speculation)
Honestly, what would Hyperion get from this? I have a free membership at Power.org, but I don't feel like I really get anything out of it. OK, free Peg2 schematics that are not enough to build my own board. (They still haven't said what to put inside that GAL chip on the AGP slot to make it actually work) Read some announcements that you can read about elsewhere as well... I stumbled across this topic at news.com before I checked at power.org, which I honestly don't spend much time at since there not much that interests me yet. The discussion forums may become useful and interesting as power.org picks up activity, but for the moment there's not much "real discussion" going on there. My day-job employer is a alternate source of PowerPC chips but does not belong to power.org. Not everyone sees a need or use...
As for specs, you can get them from vendors directly for the kinds of things any OS, software, or motherboard guy would need.
Maybe there's an enormous amount of useful and interesting information that just isn't available to freeloaders like me. I myself don't have $10K to find out for sure.
@Escolas I myself don't have a problem with announcements of new Genesi products here. I think it's good to know what's going on out there, and I don't want to stick my head in the sand and become ignorant just so a few other readers feel a little happier. Though I don't enjoy the flamewars that come up in already dead topics that return now and then, not even when I find myself part of them.

Indeed. Though I hope no one allows this annoying detail stop them from reading and learning about things that interest them, as PowerPC interests me in general. _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad!
