Hardware News   Hardware News : AmigaOne CPU Module Demonstration Rescheduled:
posted by ackcontrls on 22-May-2006 15:56:17 (11868 reads)
I know.....a slightly longer wait. As with all plans with tight schedules, I have hit a bit of a technical barrier that prevents me from making the live demonstration of a working CPU module. Similarly, I didn't have the time to set up a proper agenda for the event. I was not expecting people to physically want to visit in person and have addressed this properly. In addition a few others mentioned that the original date being on a Monday would be difficult to participate in. Here is the new date, timing and location for the event:

Date: Saturday, June 10th, 2006
Time: 4:00 pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Savings Time)

Location:

The UPS Store
26-200 Fitch Street
Welland, ON L3C 4V9
Canada

Parking and space is limited. Please e-mail your intention to attend. Beverages and food will be provided.

Agenda:

4:00 pm Brief Introduction
4:10 pm Overview of the CPU module Installation and Settings
4:30 pm Booting OS4
4:35 pm Benchmark Testing
5:00 pm Question & Answer Period
5:55 pm A Few Final Words
6:00 pm Wrap-Up

The Question and Answer period will first take questions from the people physically in attendance at the demonstration followed by questions via IRC and e-mail.

Sincerest apologies on the delays to those who have been waiting very patiently.

Adam Kowalczyk

Heh "two more weeks"..

Well its better to be properly prepaired, I still remember the MS show when Billy was showing off win 98's hardware detcetion system before its BSOD in front of him!

Some Video evidence would be nice. (of it working perfectly of course!)

wizz.

Well, is anybody surprised?

@ackcontrols:

At least a nice change this time by telling us about this and not going into silent mode (like after your "in production, in the stores end of January" statement in December).

So if you miss any further deadlines, please tell us by a brief "two more weeks" post. We like that. We are Amigans.

Yes. Thanks for the update. It's nice to have solid information giving date, place AND schedule. I'll be waiting for the full two-hour video upload.

Were the technical issues related to the board itself, or issues with getting the presentation done?

Hans

Yes, nice to actually have a hardware produce tell us they have problems (and even better it is only a small delay), rather than just going quiet. *cough* troika *cough*

Thanks for keeping us updated Adam!

Good to hear that near hardware is on its way, albeit as an upgrade to existing machines.

Excellent news!!!!!!!!!!

This should revive the 10 to 15 AmigaOnes that aren't working anymore, and also boost our "power sphere".

It is refreshing to actually get a status update for an Amiga related product.

Apology accepted!

A live showing of the module is always better than a web/video based one IMHO.
As is Saturday rather than Monday..

You will have a customer in me for the high end board later this summer.
Thanks for your hard work.

with good audio - someone pointing a big mike at whoever's
speaking

and if available by the following Tuesday it will be the
main item at our club meeting if long boring sections
where nothing important happens can be edited out ...

... and to improve on the many very bad images taken at such
occasions: LIGHTING, COMPOSITION, CAPTIONS

Atheist:
"This should revive the 10 to 15 AmigaOnes that aren't working anymore"

..out of 20 sold? :)

ACK: OK, I'm not surprised at all. We are used to delays here, however telling us the same
day is abit late. You should have told us at least this weekend when you were active here
and should have seen at least 2 threads asking about this presentation.

Open honesty is always better than silence.

Anyway, let's hope it works out in the 10th.
