Thanx for this! Can I DL the sources somewhere? I'd like to compile it for AOS4.

@SpotUP:

did you read the included "AmigaOS.README-FIRST" file at the archive ?....

This is just a quick port of the portable 7-Zip sources (available at www.7-Zip.org), which compiles just fine out of the box.....using ixemul, by that I told for OS3 (more info at the mentioned Readme file)

For OS4, Joerg released it as well as mentioned on This Post

Why? The LZMA compression is nice, but the 7zip archive format seem to be crap.

Until the sources are released you can use my old OS4 version 4.16 (see this thread), or get the sources from the p7zip project and add the small changes required for AmigaOS yourself to the current version.

btw, which are the memory requeriments under OS4 ??

under os3, the test archive 7za433_7zip_ppmd.7z needed about 70 MB

And 7za433_7zip_lzma.7z / 7za433_7zip_bzip2.7z failed to decompress, not sure if due a bug or just due out of memory...

I just tested the check.sh from your archive with my old AmigaOS4 version 4.16 binary from last year, the ppmd test doesn't work with it, all others work and don't need very much RAM (I didn't check how much exactely, but probably less than 50 MB).

heh ...nah, also just in case you've tryed to use ixemul 49.17 it will not work either because pthreads uses vfork() which function is broken from that ixemul version.

ok, thx.

that must be also something of ixemul-pthreads i think, I still remember a mpeg decoder ported to the Vicado project which before removing pthreads usage the memory needed was about 60 mb, after just 10mb or so..

I would just like to say.
1. Thanks
2. I have been wanting 7zip support for several months now so this new release is appreciated.
3. I hope someone will make a NO PTHREADs version so that we can have a reliable proggy with reasonable ram usage.
4. Even better would be a NO IXEMUL version which would then work on ALL Amigas everywhere.

Keep up the good work everybody.

Many thanks for your port!
Amiga needs s/w that can cope with the contemporary applications (btw, I have a 7-zip file that I had to use a PC in order to see its contents).

why don't you read anything before complaining on that way!, use unix-type paths or dont use fullpath at all or use a2u or use 7zUI, btw thats clearly stated as a ixemul program and hence the most common to think is that it uses unix-style paths, so it was just your fault
