I can see AW moderating being quite fun, but at the moment I can understand why people would choose to pass on the offer. May the best man win

Voting for this poll is nonsense. Moderation is the sole responsibility and fallbacks to the site owner. Letting users vote for their moderators is an attempt to legitimate and further a genuine misunderstanding.

Hold on, can I change my vote to Oppressor?

The site owner sets the rules. This is the new rule he set.... as his sole responsibility no less.

Can I have my votes count negative against a candidate instead?

Sure you can, but it would be as pointless as the rest of the poll.

It's still DaveyD's sole responsibility and won't save his ass if something slips through. This poll just displays an utter misconception about site moderation; instead of removing the few bits of copyrighted, racist and sexually offending material himself, he lets site users elect proxies for him to do the dirty chores. If he can't keep the site's notorious, politically motivated moderation level high when former moderators step back, then it should be realigned. Simple. But then again, maybe that would be too much of an insight.

Just ignore the poll, that's my suggestion.

Easy for you then, don't vote.

So glad you enjoy your stay here. Have to wonder, why bother to show up if you're so 'offended' as indicated by your statement?

And why would Davey's ass need 'saving'? Are you going to point out copyright violations now?

Because someone may choose to set up a website, certainly doesn't mean he or she can't choose people to help to run, admin, develop, or moderate on such a site. he chose to involve the userbase in selecting some additional staff. Don't like it, don't vote. Don't like the site, feel free to leave.

Why some people bother to type at all when a subject (or site) obviously is so distatseful to them is truly beyond me.

Hum, who said I felt offended?

Just in case. It was about the site owner's responsibilities, and pursuing an agenda is not among them -- keeping the site free of offending material is.

I'm making suggestions because I care for this site and its people. Just because I disagree with some opinions doesn't mean I disregard the people behind them. Don't worry, I'm enjoying my stay.

Same here. It seems it's all about politics nowadays.

@Oppressor

We all have responsibilities on the amigaworld team, its a team effort. A lot of what I do is done in the background, i.e. getting sponsorship/advetising, promoting the site (i.e. adverts in TAM and AmigaFuture), looking after the site and server, fixing problems and so on, I could go on forever.

If you had read the 'about us' section you would know better what our responsibilities are. I also have responsibilities in real life that take much time, i.e. work, family and so on. I cannot run amigaworld.net 24/7 by myself, I would go bald very quick if I did.

btw, someone just submitted another abuse report against you, you now have 8 abuse reports, yet you say you care for this site? Considure this your final warning.

We live in a democratic society, so why shouldn't the members be allowed to choose the moderators? Does the Queen of Britian choose her members of parliament?

You have some damn wierd ideas. What's the problem with spreading the work load amoung a number of people? I guess that you don't have to work for a living or actually have a real life?

BTW, I don't think that there has been any "politically motivated moderation" for a long time.

Your guess is wrong. Let's begin with a definition of "having a life" first, and then let's have a #### comparison -- e.g. education, monthly income, working hours, hobbies, sexual activities... you begin.

Abuse reports don't irritate me in the slightest -- seemingly some people can't take it out with me directly, and it's open discussion what a forum is made for. It's moderation that irritates me, because some elected people claim an understanding and reason to judge and frustrate my efforts to discuss and influence people. This is a genuine insult, and that's why I'm against political moderation. The non-political stuff alone is your responsibility, and that's what you should take care of.

You don't seem to live in a democratic society if you think that a queen has anything to do with it.

Damn... this was a tricky one. They're all really close!

Eventually voted for AmigR.
