| Thanks Dietmar!
I still wish Microgolded had the option to run an executable on startup (like GoldEd 4 did), but I guess I'm the only one who wants this feature. |

Save the script below somewhere, e.g. as "s:microgolded" (in this example, the calculator executable is started, you replace that with whatever you want to run, and adjust the path of microgolded):
.key FILE stack 16384 run sys:tools/calculator run cubic:microgolded "<FILE>"
For convenience, add this line to s:shell-startup:
alias eddy execute <>con:////microgolded/auto/wait/close s:microgolded
You have thus defined the command eddy which can be used like an editor (e.g. eddy s:user-startup), except that it starts the desired executable, too. |

| Thanks Dietmar, but as I explained (by email a couple years ago), the executable I want to run must be run immediately after the Microgolded screen is opened. I can't put a WAIT in the script because Microgolded startup can take anywhere between 3 and 15 seconds - depending on CPU use and memory fragmentation. Too long a WAIT is no good either. That's my problem. At the moment I run the executable on pressing F10, but I just wanted it run automatically on startup like I had in GoldEd4. |

| Another feature I'd like to see is "Word Wrap without linefeed". Right now, if you enable Word Wrap, it just inserts a linefeed at the end of the last word before the margin setting. Loaded files do not have long lines wrapped unless edited.
I'd like to have the option to view (or edit) any file with long lines wrapped - without inserting linefeeds in the text (like Pageliner or..ug..Windows Notepad). This is useful if you want to view or edit files with long lines without scrolling like a maniac or changing the existing format.
(Naturally, I don't expect you to do hard work to make these changes just because I want them. They're just suggestions. I'm very happy with the work already done on Microgolded. ) Last edited by mr_a500 on 30-Oct-2006 at 02:07 PM.

GoldED can still do that, buy Cubic :) There is a plug-in called "startup" among the examples (developer material is not included with the demo; if you want to check it out, send e-mail). It lets you run stuff via macros:
Load the plug-in into the editor and specify the path of a rexx macro as argument. It will be started when the plug-ins are "attached" to the text, ie. about the same time the display is attached.
Theoretically, the plug-in systems allows for much more, if you can program. For example, "file loaded", "screen closed", "file renamed" etc. are all events, you could run specific commands on such occasions.

That, unfortunately, doesn't fit into the concept at all, it requires a fundamentally different editor. |
