Announcement   Announcement : Spot's Porting Guide for Dummies v1.1 released!
posted by spotUP on 8-Nov-2006 23:03:17 (3921 reads)
You may ask...: WHY SHOULD I READ THIS? I CAN'T CODE!

Well, the sad fact is that, neither can I! I am just a stubborn geezer! And look at me now... 100+ uploads to OS4Depot.net!

Compiling multiplatform stuff for AmigaOS 4.0 isn't THAT hard, c'mon! If I can do it, you can do it too! You'll be jumping up and down screaming when you have managed to
compile your first SDL app, I did! To my defence I have to say that I had to figure out a lot of the process the hard way!

Read it here. (hosted by UtilityBase.com)

For the next version i'll try to include a walkthrough for
a simple linklib and a simple game.

hah... a little bit much to take in if you are totally new I guess.
i learned it in steps.. but, as i said i will write 2 walkthroughs, maybe that will be easier.
i have v 1.2 here with some more explanations and basics too.

Thanks for this useful guide. Very helpful for those times when you encounter a familiar error but you just can't remember how to fix it.

Is Hyperion FTP site down ?

I'm trying to download the SDK from ftp://ftp.hyperion-entertainment.biz/AmigaOS4_SDK but get "The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy"...

Is there an alternate location to download it from ?

Thanks.

// Edit: sorted... In fact it worked fine with AWeb and Voyager... Just not with Firefox !

Jerry
