Software News   Software News : OpenSSH clients for OS4 Final
posted by ssolie on 3-Jan-2007 17:41:36 (2194 reads)
Version 4.5p1-2 includes the following changes:
- increased default pipe buffer size to 4096 bytes
- fixed progress bar display bug in sftp during 'put'
- added AmigaOS-style version strings to executables

Grab the latest version from OS4Depot.

From all the reports I've received it seems these tools are working well. The biggest problem has been with terminal mismatches (i.e. incorrect TERM setting). Try setting TERM to "vt100" or "amiga" if you are having trouble with your particular system (depends what system you are connecting to).

Great work! However, I'm stuffed if I can get it to work (properly).

I've got a number of linux boxes here all running SSH but I get a "bad kex alg diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256" when I try to connect. If I force the old protocol 1 (-1), I start to connect but none of my servers want to talk protocol 1, nor do I want them to.

I've had a quick scan of the documentation, but thought I'd pop up a question here before I invested too much time in trying to work out whats going on.

Any ideas?

Edit: Err... does this require the SDK to be installed?

I don't know what "bad kex alg..." means. Try Google, etc.

Not if you stick to using ssh and sftp. If you try to use scp it will require cp which is included in the SDK. Note that as per the documentation that scp is not standardized so don't expect it to always work flawlessly between every system. Only ssh and sftp are standardized.

I did Google, but it didn't show much of interest up - its something to do with the key exchange... I'll look further as time permits.

Odd that it works to OpenSSH on my Windows XP laptop.

Would be good if someone could now wrap a gui around sftp

Same here with my Solaris Box, I cannot connect to it with this openssh client. I'm not using passwords but private/public keys. I have generated a new key pair with the included ssh-keygen tool but it still refuses to connect. The private key is working, I've tested the key with the ssh client on Cygwin.

Here's the output, I have the feeling that the ssh client has some trouble reading the key file, the cygwin version does not complain about the key, and as I said I've used the same key on both platforms.
