Software News   Software News : SambaMatic update now on OS4Depot
posted by jtubbs on 20-Jan-2007 2:18:11 (4883 reads)
SambaMatic now has the ability to find the servers on your network for you. No longer do you have to twiddle with config files, server names, addresses, etc. The only thing you need to know is the name of your network group. Please download and try.
Have fun!

Rats! It doesn't seem to be available yet. I'll check in the morning.

I get a "Bind error in Startup". What does that mean?

It's brilliant! The last one was perfectly usable, but this just does the job.

Thank's loads for your continued work. This deserves to be a contribution in OS4.0.

Umm... No luck with the unmount, then?

Regards
Roy Leith

Gee.....Thanks!
As far as an unmount it's somewhat low priority. In time I might try to find a way to add that functionality into SambaMatc. I want to see SambaMatic eventually evolve into a complete network solution.

I get the "Bind error in startup" as well. However, I didn't get it when I started SambaMatic immediately after reseting my machine. It looks like it happens after nmbd starts up due to my A1 getting a netbios packet from my WinXP machine. Either way, it can't seem to find my WinXP machine. Having said that, my XP machine seems to have trouble finding other machines at times as well. The WinXP firewall is switched off so I'm not sure what's causing that.

Hans

@ jtubbs

Wow, this is working nice now. I received no joy on the first day of try, but later when ready to shut down I rechecked my Workbench, WALLA!, there was an icon for XP in the same name I entered into SambaMatic. The next day the icon came up instantly. Nice!

Now, I wish XP could show my AmigaOne.

Interesting. I haven't been using nmbd so it wasn't part of the mix on this end. Your experience gives me a starting point in trying to find out what's going on here. Just off the top of my head, I can't think why nmbd should cause a problem, but I'll do some checking.
