I don't like to be negative so I'll say it is pretty. It's just not the best example I've seen of AmiDock usage.

AmiDock does a better job of being a Dock bar than a 'Start menu' (For me at least). That saying, I'm sure loads of people will like it.

Interesting idea, and I must say it does look nice. However, I have two suggestions:
- Change all paths from Workbench: to SYS:. Not everyone has a their SYS: partition called Workbench (I know mine isn't).
- You might want to make the main dock a separate panel. Any program that displays stuff in Amidock (e.g. WET and Tunenet) will display them in the main dock. The size of those dockies will screw up the look of the bar.

I have uploaded a reworked archive:

- a backup of your AmiDock config will be created before installation now.
- it will work now even if the name of your OS4 partition is not 'Workbench:'

It looks really nice. The colours and the transparent part of icons.
However it needs alot of work if people wants to replace amidock or other.
If i used amidock i would probably use push4dock.

Havent been using amidock for ages now. Amistart replaced it on my system and does a better job, tons of configurations and you make the look like you want.
I use native betas for os4..

I will keep my eye for your updates too see how push4dock grows.

@Mason

Wow quick update. I have to say that I like the look. It doesn't quite behave like start-bar, but that would require modifying Amidock itself. I'm hoping that the developer of AmiDock will continue to improve it. It'd be nice if subdock buttons showed the sub-dock while the mouse-button was being held down, and made them disappear on mouse-up, for example.

You missed one, I still got a requester asking for Workbench,
You also have personal in 'work:' not everyone has a work partition, it needs to either be in sys: or assigned.

The bottom bar image is not long enough, it either sits in the middle of my screen (1680x1050) or tiles the image so I getthe pink push4 bit up twice.

to do this properly amidock needs offset values, eg. snap to bottom left - a defined vaslue and auto closing of subdocks on selection. minimized docks with dragbars should pop open when you hover the mouse over them and close on seletion too, be able to label the dragbar and get rid of that popup button thingy.

Ok, a new version is up. Hope it will work now...

The system partition is imho not the best place to store data. I will try to request the path for the directories with the next version of the install script. Meanwhile please temporarily assign "Work:" during the installation process and then change the your AmiDock settings.

Wow, what a resolution! I didn't expect that somebody uses that big screens. Will try to make the bar larger.

I use YAM a lot and it iconifies as an icon into AmiDock, but when I iconify it here, it messes up the bar gfx at the bottom of the screen by doubling it up.

I've solved this by creating a new dock as main dock so that those icons appear there instead of on the start bar. You have to edit AmiDock's XML prefs directly to do this (use prefsobjecteditor from utilities) as AmiDock prefs won't allow you to change which one is the main dock. Just a warning, you're going to have to change the subdock number that the push4 button points to or it will disappear.

What I did was as follows:
- Add an extra dock called InfoDock in AmiDock prefs and set it to my desired location and style
- In the PrefsObject editor I moved that dock to the top of the list
- Changed the subdock that the push4 button points to. I don't have my A1 in front of me right now and can't remember what the attribute name was, or what the number was I had to change it too. You'll have to figure this out yourself
- Saved to ENVARC: and reset the computer

If you did everything correctly, Push4Dock should look identical and your YAM icon will appear in the info-dock you created. If you got the subdock attribute wrong, the push4 button will dissapear. I recommend backing up the AmiDock prefs file first.

Hans

@mason

You're welcome. It was something I really wanted to fix as I have WET installed in my WBStartup and it uglified your Push4Dock bar immediately. I also use the CPUClock docky.
