ok, guys, keep believing that AmigaInc is doing a great job. They really are the future.

But please keep in mind that they haven't done anything on OS4. So what have they done? Well, visit their amiga-anywhere website to see what i mean.
And while you are surfing there, keep in mind that all that software is made by other companies on a software kit that was essentially made by Tao.

AmigaInc, on schedule and rocking! Coming soon now...

@z5:

We weren't discussing whether AInc are doing a great job or not, we were discussing whether the "Club Amiga lifetime membership + coupon + T-shirt"-deal was a scam or not.

Well Mike, that wasn't too hard as your comment was pointed directly to me (see @Hooligan)

The magazine is a good idea and hopefully brings joy to the few. I personally think it should be available to anyone and member fee should entitle to discounts, email forwarding, xmas presents etc.

With the "@ Hooligan" thingy I am trying to make clear that I am replying to your message. (i.e. for the people who use a flat view of the comments)

The mentioned "attacks" refers to my original message to which you have been replying: "While the people creating most of the fuss, insults and attacks regarding these delays, almost none of them actually joined the club"

uhm, lemme try to understand this..... nope not a clue how you got AOS4 and the Amiga Anywhere mixed up.

I dont know you by name so I can´t say how/if you have done anything on DE but its quite obvious that you havent followed along all that much nor know about the various api´s Amiga Inc. developed for DE.

Finaly IF Amiga Inc. isnt involved in Amiga OS4.0 and OS4.x why is it that we get the blame(and we alone) for missed deadlines wouldnt it be more apropriate to blame the people YOU think is involved in the project???

Well, personally, I kinda thought something like SlimJim, that the issues of CAM were to give us the info in advance, but that everything would eventually be able to be viewed by the public as well. Of course, alot of the stuff there from previous issues have been discussed in fourums by now.

I would have no problem with Amiga releasing previous issues for everyone else to read. Then again, they could offer some sort of reduced price for those who just want to read CAM.

I don't know why you and those like you keep believing that the world is only black and white. No, they haven't done a great job under many aspects (and they know this) but they haven't sat on a chair doing nothing all day either.

>But please keep in mind that they haven't done
>anything on OS4.

So? They licensed someone else to do it, the result is the same, OS4 will be released. If they didn't want OS4, not you, not Hyperion, not the angels could have made it.

> So what have they done? Well, visit their amiga
>-anywhere website to see what i mean.

So it's back to what I was saying in a previous post, if you don't see it it doesn't exist. Not everything they do is on the website, most of it isn't.

>And while you are surfing there, keep in mind that >all that software is made by other companies

Right now Amiga acts as a distributor for the software on that site. What they do is more low level and doesn't get distributed by itself to the general public. But much of that software wouldn't be there if Amiga hadn't created some stuff that didn't exist in the original TAO product. But you'll see no reason, so why do i even bother...

its a very long read only half way throught it has it covers alot.

But i would like to see others ppl views about it.

Maybe a new thread.

I hope AmigaOS can get some of the fallout.
And amiga.inc better be cafeful with Amiga.DE.

Cos from what i just read fron that site, AmigaDE would against what MS want to do if Amiga.DE let all SW run on ALL OSes when MS want all SW to only run on MS/Os.

So why is MS helping Amiga.inc with selling Amiga.DE titles ?

To help Amiga.DE to become a sucess.
Then MS will pressure Amiga.inc not to upgrade Amiga.DE for anyother OS Or MS will stop being a distrobution partner for Amiga.DE.

If Amiga.inc dont have the balls to say no then the whole point of Amiga.DE is lost.

Or MS will just make a Amiga.DE compatable API & extend. & amiga.inc no more.

Then Gateway sell Amiga IP to MS ? then you know what would Happen then.

any replying in new thread pls. as this is OT for long enough.

In simple terms the reason MS is "helping" bringing DE to market is simply down to the fact that MS needs content for their mobile platforms nothing more nothing less.

> Or MS will just make a Amiga.DE compatable API & extend. & amiga.inc no more.

MS doesnt need another API to support and so on they simply need content as that is what sells the products out there.

Let's put a couple of things clear here. Microsoft is NOT helping Amiga. They're distributing the software because to them that's another way to make money and to gain market share in a different environment that the desktop. If Microsoft didn't do it, someone else would, they know that and that's why they do it. It's about money. You don't really believe that they're doing it out of their good heart and not because it represents a financial opportunity that they deem worth of notice?

@Messiah & amigammc

My comments are based what i read on the url that was given about what MS have done to others.

But your replys sound as if you have not read it, have not read it through, or think that Amiga.inc is unique & does not have to worry what MS has done to others wich MS had needed for content its products before in the past.

Alot of ppl & i do mean alot of ppl was not happy about neededing Halo as content for the XBox thus buyimg the whole firm.

@Alkemyst

My comments are based on reading *everything* that comes out plus being in touch on as semi-daily basis with Amiga Inc. The Microsoft deal dates back to over one year ago, unfortunately MS has moved slower than what you think, as a matter of fact, considering how big and powerful the firm is, it moved so slow that Amiga is a rocket if compared to it.
As for Bungie being bought by MS it's certainly none of my problems as long as the content provided is of high quality. And since Halo2 is being worked to the finest details with no pressure on release date from Microsoft (oh hey, it's been delayed too, let's bash Bungie now... no?) I'm just too happy with that, I rather wait and see a high quality product
MS bought other SW companies too, just like many other companies bought many other companies, that's how the world goes. If you don't like it complain to your government for allowing competition.

You have over simplified things & have missed my point compleatly.

1) you have not read everything.

2) i dont gave a damn about Halo1 or 2 they were just examples of MS seeing a really good idea & buying it out.

I was not talking about delays at all or the quality of anything either.

3) you talk as if MS have never done anything wrong & Amiga.inc has nothing to worry about.

4)You talk about competition when most buyouts= less competition & thats exactly why goverments sometimes steps in to stop buyouts.

Reading everything is nothing if you fail to COMPREHEND.

MY point is if Amiga.DE becomes something that MS really needs they may use their monop to own it in someway like they have done so manytimes in the past.

OH MS needed Java for content java MS plays along sees that java is doing ok so they make there own version to replace Sun java.

oh how about the smartphone deal play along lern what you need then copy.

Amiga.DE becomes good lots of SW that runs on Oses that are not windows & on hardware that is not x86.

The need for windows becomes less as more & more apps are coded for amiga.DE.

MS dont want that in the long run.

MS play along now cos its better to have Amiga.DE
as a feature than not & let all the competition run it while windows does not.

MS goes license Intent or buys it out.

MS makes MS.DE that can run Amiga.DE SW.

MS.DE will have proprietary extentions thus stopping MS.DE SW running on Amiga.DE ect....

im not saying this would happen but its possible.

Microsoft needs the content not the OS(DE in this case) in fact from the contacts I have with ms they dont care at all about DE they just think it rules that someone makes content for their PDA´s and Cell phones :)
>OH MS needed Java for content java MS plays along sees that java is doing ok so they make there own version to replace Sun java.

MS dont have their own version of Java anymore(Sun sued them and won so now MS have to supply Sun Java instead), but this brings up another issue that is good for MS to deal with Amiga as we DO bring a fully lic. Java version to their mobile platforms they are quite happy :)
>oh how about the smartphone deal play along lern what you need then copy.

On the mobile side of things MS doesnt deal with X86 at all first of all(x86 isnt a viable option there), secondly MS isnt all that bad when they make money on things we supply em(they simply dont care about the OS itself they just focus on the content).

Too bad they had to shut this down. Would be nice to have some sort of monthly communique from Hyperion.
