Software News   Software News : Duke Nukem gets the OpenGL treatment (0.52)
   posted by _Steve_ on 8-Apr-2003 11:27:12 (2189 reads)
Well, if you don't know, (gl)Duke is back and kicking ass! Now enhanced with the Duke Nukem 3D source code! Here's what's new in this release:

  • Added basic music support;
  • Tweaked the keyboard input in the menus;
  • Fixed most crashes related to the BUILD engine port;
  • Fixed the parallaxed sectors;

The current sources and windows binaries can be found on the main site. Any person wishing to take on an AmigaPPC/68K/A1/Pegasos port should start there.

It might be an idea to wait until they have actually made it use OpenGL before porting it.

Although the project is called glDuke, they haven't actually updated the engine to use OpenGL yet.

Also, even after they've removed the old i386 assembler optimised engine and replaced it with OpenGL, it will still take a lot of effort to fix up the code for big-endian processors, and thats even before you've started adapting it to work under AmigaOS...
