News   News : 2007 Amiga user worldwide census Survey.
   posted by Mikey_C on 12-Jun-2007 16:37:06 (4927 reads)
Hi All.

This is a New Census Survey based on the one I run a few years back for the UK only. However this one is worldwide. If any one region gets more than 100 votes I will do a new specific poll for that region.

Basically, All I want to know is, where in the world are you? You must be an Amiga user (or waiting Amiga user) to take part.

For some reason the Germans seem to be "winning" at the moment:

Germany/Austria 52% 61
UK & Ireland 15% 18
USA/Canada 8% 10
Norway/Sweden/Finland/Denmark/Iceland 8% 9
Holland/Belguim/Luxumborg/Switzerland 7% 8
France/Italy 5% 6
Greece/Turkey 2% 2
New Zealand/Australia 2% 2
Spain/Portugal 1% 1
Croatia/Slovenia/Czech Replubic/Albania/Hungary/Mcaedonia/Bulgaria 1% 1
Poland/Belarus/Lithuania/Ukraine/Latvia/Estonia/Russia 0% 0
Asia 0% 0
South America 0% 0
African Continent 0% 0
Rest of the world 0% 0
total votes: 118

Funny how some country's are put together in one Option!

It doesnt make any sense !

What do these countrys have in common ?

Quote:

Holland/Belguim/Luxumborg/Switzerland

hhmm...
Well they are small, they are somewhere in Europe and the people from there usually have an funny accent :)

The Countrys are not geographically near or something.

We're a long way behind Germany/Austria but hey, we're doing better than 'Scoot' did in Eurovision!

Mike: Interesting poll. I don't suppose this site lets you get a breakdown of the top referrers? Alternatively, where have you posted the census so far?

Chris

Hey Rob, there's more Welsh Amiga users than the whole of Africa, Asia and South America. How does that make you feel?

Chris

And regarding the source of this post I guess "Amiga user" excludes MorphOS users and AROS users as usual? Just wanting to know if I should take the survey or not...

Got a bunch of questions:

"AmigaONE-news" ????

Who gives a flying f......

Who really believes that this would lead to accurate results ?

Why is it allways the same self-proclaimed community-leaders starting such retarted polls&petitions ??

I don't see any categories for OS4, OS3x etc, so how does it exclude MorhpOS and AROS users. Aren't we all Amiga users anyway?

@Heinz

I agree with that. Having Holland/Belguim/Luxumborg/Switzerland put together in 1 option is just stupid so I won't even fill in this survey.

I hope as many people as possible will do that.

You and me and most other surely feels that way, but that's not true according to some "amigans" people. Hence my question...

Couple of Points.

I apologise if I missed a country out, I am sorry I couldn't add anymore, 20 entries was the max and seeing that I couldn't add every country individually, I grouped them together.

(Mainly, in order of users) I am well aware that Germany and Austria have the highest concentration of Amiga users left on this planet, with possibly Sweden and UK/Ireland coming next.

I am only looking at this as an indication of number of users per country/region, I don't think it will be accurate (heck I know it won't be) but it will give an indication.

As the Poll says, AMIGA users only, if someone wants to do one for MorphOS or AROS, the same site I have used, is available for them to use for free too.

No whining is required, just five minutes of effort.

Thanks to all those who have taken part so far.

BeNeLux is a rather well known term (do a search), so I don't see anything wrong with grouping those countries. Your problem would be with Switzerland, then? Not much to cause a fuss about if you ask me, but by all means. Nothing wrong with being a perfectionist.

@Mikey_C

Thanks for your clarification.

I really don't know why I asked when I kind of knew the answer all along. Maybe I thought things had changed? Or maybe I'm just a masochist, without really knowing it?

@Rob

See what I mean?

Take a look at the "Annuaire Amiga & Pegasos Francophone" which list 586 Amiga users in France and french speaking lands.

@Mikey_C

While I (IMHO) agree that MorphOS and AROS aren't Amiga (a different topic) I don't
agree with your poll. Why exclude some parts of our community in this kind of a poll?
Yes, I think we're all the same community but has chosen different directions.

I guess this also excludes Amithlon, UAE and such emulators if they never plan
to upgrade to a "real" Amiga?

IMHO this poll would be more interesting if it included all types of Amiga-ish users.
Then it could indicate how large our community really is.
Now it will only include OS4 fans and some AmigaOS 3.x users who may upgrade
to OS4 at some time. Some may even choose not to answer because of this.
