News   News : 2007 Amiga user worldwide census Survey.
   posted by Mikey_C on 12-Jun-2007 17:37:06 (6148 reads)
Hi All.

This is a New Census Survey based on the one I run a few years back for the UK only. However this one is worldwide. If any one region gets more than 100 votes I will do a new specific poll for that region.

Basically, All I want to know is, where in the world are you? You must be an Amiga user (or waiting Amiga user) to take part.

On top of excluding Amiga "like" systems it also excludes Amigans who use the same internet connection. Grrr....

Hi,

North America USA/Canada only?? You should have put Mexico there, I had to vote as in "South America" although my country's not located there nor I wanted to vote as "other regions" 'cause the region my country is, is clearly shown there just my country not included...

Cheers

@Mikey_C

Maybe you could edit and pool Central and South America like you did with USA/Canada. Central America kinda got left in limbo.

Nice idea, but the results won't be accurate, since there's no registration, and the multiple votes check is only based on IP check AFAIHS = too weak.

Like me? Well, I am using an Amiga 1200 to run Morphos, so I am an Amiga user and voted.
If running an original Commodore Amiga (compared to an AmigaOne) still doesn't qualify, well, then I'll just boot into OS3.9 once a month so I can vote.

This poll can’t possible produce accurate results since many amiga user groups are formed nationally, scattered all over thw world and are not aware of it (the poll I mean).

For example in Greece there must be above 50 amiga users (or wanna be amiga OS4 users).

Of course I voted but still I have my doubts.

Despite some of the limitations of this poll, the results are still VERY interesting: Contrary to my expectations, the UK is now relegated to 4th place (10%), with Norway/etc in 3rd (12%), USA/Canada in 2nd (13%), and way ahead we have Germany/Austria in 1st (39%).

So it seems that the number of Amiga users left in the UK is about par with the USA, despite the Amiga having been much more popular over here (UK). Of course, the USA population is spread-out rather more than in the UK, so keeping Amiga clubs going over there must be harder.

Perhaps Amiga Inc should move to Germany :)

P.S. I just noticed that http://www.hyperion-entertainment.biz/ is down...

English speaking countries are way too top in this poll. I dont think Amiga was ever as popular as it was in German speaking countries or in northern countries. English speaking users are just louder and attend more because they dont have languare barrier. Many Germans cant speak or write English at all.

My friend had recently a business trip to eastern Germany (near Poland border). Sneding a parcel via DHL was almost impossible because they did not speak English or only very little. It was the same in hotels, shops, restaurants...
Skills in English language were not better in Poland though

I know at least one (ex) Amiga user who does not speak English at all. He used to hang on #az before he got PC.

Many Amiga users are also 40-60 yrs...
