I like the fact, that AmIRC is obviously not "dead" oder "abandoned", since it's the best IRC-client around. Nevertheless, a 68k-version would be very nice and would make sense anyway.

AmIRC is a great application, glad to see that development is still active.

Hip !

@ DiscreetFX
The "development" is not still active.
This MOS release is not from VaporWare, but from Nicolas "Henes" Salin, a french MOS developer.
VaporWare agreed with Henes to release it, but got nothing t do with it.
Bugs report should go to Henes, not VaporWare.

All AmIRC needs, is 'Server Tabs'. It'd be nice to open up just one window and be able to connect to several networks, instead of having to open up several instances (like it does with channels and dialogues). WookieChat is progressing nicely, though.

I remember Jamie van den Berge telling me that the above functionality was planned, but most of the codebase would need serious changes, as it was never originally designed by Oliver that way.

Ah well. It'd be nice to see a new 68k AmigaOS release, regardless.

Steve

I am so sorry if you got the news wrong. MorphOS, AROS, AmigaOS4 and AmigaOS for 68k is the Amiga family for me.

There is no point in fighting anymore inside this family. The point now is to tell the world what the community wants instead. We should all promote for all Amiga pieces, instead of making world turn against us.

The news is really intended as a positive news about something that belongs to every Amigan. AmIRC came out in 1995, when Internet was young as we see it today. As the news states. xchat and even mirc have taken functionalities or ideas from AmIRC. Its a legendary irc client.

This dosent mean that Wookiechat or MomosIRC which both are developed are bad choices. They are excellent! Development shows that Amiga is alive. Its really refreshing using Wookiechat at times instead of AmIRC etc. They have totally different goals in design and functionality. The more choices, the more world looks at us....

... but then we need to get ridd of Bill McEwen / Amiga Inc. With latest statements about AmigaOS5 etc.. I just want to cry,..

Well, the software has just been updated. Then the development is still active, of course. No matter who's developing it right now.

And big thanks to Nicolas! I hope the OS3.x update will appear too, some day.

So, do you think it likely there'll be an OS4 version soon after the MorphOS version releases? Or an AROS version?

But not this update, which has some bugs fixed, regarded to the last 68k-version 3.5.25 .

I can't understand you people. Why are you still fighting, when there are only a few hundreds of us left?

I still use my Amiga1200+1260/50 with AmigaOS 3.9, and have a MorphOS at home too. And I'm looking forward to use OS4 on SAM440.

It's great that Vapor gave permission to release the MorphOS version of Amirc, but as they are not developing it anymore, we cannot expect a 68k and OS4 version. But hell, we have Wookiechat now, which becomes better day-by-day!
Furthermore Amirc is not for sale any more. Only those users can use it who bought it at least 3-4 years ago!

Bit serious calling people trolls though don't you think Mods?
Cool to have this great utility on MorphOS though all the same!!!!

EDIT: hmm, well it is in the TOS verbatim, so I guess it is allowed to call members trolls. Bit strong, but hey, who am I to quibble over the TOS - only been here nigh on 5 years

Rude!

So is this application better than Wookiechat? If not, why release it today?
If I remember correctly these fixes where done eons ago but never released to the public.
