| It's great to see boards available at such reasonable pricing, but I suspect the thing putting off a lot of people is the need to source components and construct the board themselves.
A vast majority of the people who would love to own one of these lack the necessary skill to be able to build it. If you were able to additionally offer a fully built board, I am sure there would be considerably more people knocking at your doors with a fist-full of cash. _________________ Test sig (new)

Indeed.
Although the volume we have sold is well into three figures and shows no immediate sign of slowing.
Every board is a potential Minimig user or developer. We believe any Amiga related development is good for the entire Amiga world.
Check out wfgnijhuis on Ebay a.k.a. Wizard66 on amiga.org and his highly professional Minimig v1.1 machines (using Nusim PCBs )

Yes. We know that development of the minimig will continue at a brisk pace from now but we are confident that the original design would have enough interest to make it worthwhile looking at manufacturing them.
Meanwhile back to the solder and flux .............. |

Have you got any spare Spartan3 chips around? I made an idiotic mistake and ordered a 3E and a 3, the 3 is reserved for a mate of mine so I have no Spartan to build the MiniMig with... :-/ _________________

I'll have to fish around for one, I'm not making another Digikey order... that was bloody expensive!

| @Nusim OMG, £212 for a fully assembled MiniMig! I know eBay is a crazy place, but £212 for an A500 (clone)... edit: And they do *not* even supply a 5v PSU or a (dirty cheap) MMC card with it!
P.S. How soon until Amiga Inc sues him for using the word "Amiga" on it? Last edited by ChrisH on 31-Oct-2007 at 11:07 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 31-Oct-2007 at 11:06 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 31-Oct-2007 at 11:05 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 31-Oct-2007 at 11:04 PM.

It depends on how much space there is on the FPGA.
How good would it be if the SAM version of OS4 came with the option to run classic software with little or no load on the CPU. |

| Gold finish may sound cool. But for ease of soldering you are better off with:
HASL (Hot Air solder level) Tin/Lead (not RoSH compliant) or Immersion Silver (RoSH compliant)
ENIG (Electroless Ni/Imm Au) (often referred to as Gold) is the next best. |

The parts list is quite expensive in small quantities and hand soldering the boards is a highly skilled and time consuming work.
I'm not sure if Jens still plans to release CloneA this year, but it should be cheaper than the current Minmigs and be ready to plug in and play when you get it home.Last edited by Rob on 31-Oct-2007 at 11:22 PM.

It is not that expensive, I paid about £70 for the parts for mine, plus tax. About £85 total. I dunno how much an etched plexiglass case would cost. _________________

| You'll have to keep a record of the time you spend assembling it and then work out how much the cost would be at whatever you value your time at. |

Yes, I only talked about the parts, not the actual production cost. _________________

| Minimig and CloneA are very interesting projects imo. Seems they duplicate each other though. Are there major technical or direction differences between the two? I know one is open and the other closed and developed by Jens Schofield, but differences aside from those?
Also, any ideas where minimig will go next? e.g. Expand to clone other models (A1200), pair it up with more modern hardware options, ethernet boards etc. ?

Are we mad?
It should be £100 max!
