Are there plans for a more traditional type of ordering system, as in an online store?

This is great news for those who are unable to build their own from the many bare PCBs you can purchase online.

The pricing isn't too bad either, especially as you can get it with a PSU and a 1GB SD card.

Kudos to ACube for providing this item to the masses.

Their site is broken for me.
I'm clicking on "go to homepage" over and over and it just reloads the same intro page.
http://www.acube-systems.biz/eng/index.php

I've already emailed acube to tell them yesterday.
EDIT: It doesnt seem to matter what cookies settings I use. Also, I'm using IBrowse2.4.

@Jahc

The sites works here.

This feels so "un-amigaish"
Something annouced that actually appears on schedual

An announcement from December about products in January, an apology announcement in January for the delay, and now an announcement that the product is available.

Heh, well done Acube

Yes it does. A German dealer is already taking orders for Minimig/AmigaForever bundles but also offers a deal consisting of a Minimig with SD-card and KickstartROM.

Hi,

Does anyone know what kind of chassi / box this baby
should be installed in? I.e. what's the form factor?

Thanks

Best regards,

Let me get this straight. This a basicly an Amiga 500 running at standard speed with 1 GB RAM. Is there any way to hook a standard Amiga floppy drive to it? Can it read disk images (adf) files? What's the price in American dollars?

I wonder if they're planning an Amiga 4000 / AGA emulator. That would be more useful.

>>Let me get this straight. This a basicly an Amiga 500 running at standard speed with 1 GB RAM.

No, it's an A500 with 2MB and a SD-Card slot to use as hard disk (sizes may vary, they will send you a 1GB card with your minimig).

>>Is there any way to hook a standard Amiga floppy drive to it? Can it read disk images (adf) files? What's the price in American dollars?

That's what the SD-Card is for, you dump all your adf images on it and kickstart 1.3 and off you go, I suspect the loading to be faster than the original Amiga floppy disk drive.

>>I wonder if they're planning an Amiga 4000 / AGA emulator. That would be more useful.

There is talks of an Amiga AGA implementation in the next minimig and possibly a portable minimig (PSP or GP2X style).

12cm x 12cm that should be nano itx form if I am correct.

Loads of people sell nano and mini itx cases but from my experience they are HORRENDOUSLY expensive.

I know that someone is working on a case for the minimig right now.

If its actually going to be 12cm square, instead of looking at it as a computer requiring a co mputier case, why not consider things it might already fit in?

Like maybe a Double CD Crystal case? That should be pretty cheap. 8)

RodTerl

On one side, the Forever CD/DVD.. on the other, the MiniMig its going to run on. SD card?.. under the inlay sheet. 8)

Not quite. It is an A500 reimplemented in an FPGA. It comes with 2MB ram on-board. You do not connect a floppy to it, all games/images etc. are loaded from the SD card (of which a 1GB one is provided by ACube).

It does indeed read and utilise ADF images (from the SD card).

It costs approximately 139/149 Euros (depending if you get it with a PSU or not) which equates to something in the region of $200. You still need to add shipping on top of that.

You do get the benefit of being able to use any PS/2 keyboard on it, as well as hooking it up to any standard SVGA monitor. It has your standard 9 pin DB plug for joysticks, so you can make use of your lovely Competition Pros or Zipsticks on it.

Since it is modern, you know you will have a long time to play with it (which you cannot guarantee with your aging A500 hardware). Plus, any bugs fixes or additions can be made in software by reflashing the FPGA, so you have a degree of future proofing.

For AGA, you will be more interested in following the Clone-A project from Individual Computing.

[edit: darn pesky typos]

@TheDaddy

A standard case will be of no use because of the layout of the ports.

The typical installation of two squares of plexiglass and four metal posts shouldn't be too difficult for most people.

You could even make sides for it and glue them on.

Maybe someone will make self assembly cases for those that don't have access to powertools.

True but still better than having it bare on the desk, you could always "hack" a standard case.

I should soon know about the progress of this new minimig case.

One of my clients sells and fabricates plastic and metal parts.

I could look into it if they need something for the minimig case.

Just send me a PM.
