Vauxhall runs well on my A1 though I'm not sure it displays properly. I'm looking forward to checking the other demoes at the weekend when I'll be in the same place as my A1200.

If somebody could make videos of those demos.

There's which chipset is required for those demos in A.D.A., but they don't say which CPU is minimum. (I bet minimum is always 060 nowadays anyway.)

there are videos of almost all of the entries on the offical bp08 site:

http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/download.php

check out the wild compos (microcontrollers rox:) and the c64 demos (cauldron with its chip-d'n'b tune, awesome!)

the elune demo runs fine on peg/morphos but only in window mode. does anybody know how to run it in fullscreen? anyway, this demo is freaking great!!!

and dont forget to get the first three entries of the animation compo - there are absolutely must see!

toaks: what ps3 demo are you talking about? where to get it?

@NutsAboutAmiga

Given half the demos are listed as AGA (and presumably bang on the hardware somewhat), I doubt that they will work too well on the A1 under OS4. You may have better luck on a classic machine under OS4.

From some of the comments I read at pouet, quite a few people have problems running them on their real Amigas as well (and a couple do not work well under WinUAE simply because of the JIT).

Never say never. Later versions of OS4 have planar screens emulation, and it might be worth trying to run them using ciagent and blitzen.

@NutsAboutAmiga
Thanks for the report.

Psylteflesk will never work in its current form, as it uses the copper for the color shades, so it's not a simple c2p, but depends on the custom chipset.

The Soliloquy issue is strange, it should work on both MorphOS and OS4, according to the authors.

Surfing Great Victoria uses HAM8 (in other words, won't work, but there are prolly more reasons for this anyway).

Electric Ocean has a Paula-only music player, but otherwise it should work (and it does).

Twenty uses HAM8 and pokes the copper list (and probably more) directly, so it won't work.

Regrets is an ECS/OCS production (A500?), so prolly uses the copper, blitter, planar graphics, and more. Won't work.

The requirement of AGA chipset is some what misleading,
Demos that use AGA screenmodes (6/8bit), timer.device and AHI should work, if they are written system friendly and do not contain bugs.

Amiga-ONE / AmigaOS4 do not support HAM6/8, copper, CIAA/B timing,
demos that use HAM6/8, copper or CIAA/B is not going to work on AmigaOne.

Demos where tested whit JIT and whit out ciagent and/or blitzen.

I did not read any thing about command line arguments or any thing like that, there might be things I did not try.

Maybe Soliloquy works on BlizzardPPC / CyberStormPPC

Not entirely, since as I said, a majority bang on or rely on the original chipset (which the A1 doesn't have access to).

As ChainQ pointed out, most of the demos are not A1 OS4 firendly (or MOS/Pegasos either), simply because they do things not supported by them.

I watched it on my PC. So long as the codec exists for something like DVPLayer, I suspect that the A1's could be able to handle it - if they can handle HD sized videos (that PS3 demo video is in 1280x960 with MPEG-1 Layer 3 audio at 44100Hz 192kbps).

With MPC on my PC, it can use up to 40% CPU time (20% on each core) of an E6700@2.66GHz, although it averages around 20% CPU usage - and is using around 46-52MB ram.

Soliloquy works fine on MOS/Pegasos (on window) and on real AGA Amiga if there's enough memory (fullscreen).

BTW. you can find comments and videos for demos from http://www.pouet.net/party.php?which=450&when=2008 too. Some demos have several videos, like youtube-links too.

I bet it uses 320x200 or 320x240 (8bit). In any case you should have both for compatibility with classic programs :)
