| I guess now we find out what Apple's plans are for Low-Level Virtual Machine considering they support both Intel and PowerPC. |

| This is great news, and somewhat very surprising! It seems that Apple might have regreeted moving over to Intel, and actually sees the huge potensial that P.A Semi can give future computeres and IPods. It's also likely that this can have a lot to say for the future of Amiga..
Many possibilities, and i know that Microsoft will hate the fact that they can own everything of computing technology out there. After all, Microsoft might have broken more laws than they have ever released Windows!
I welcome this news! This is just great! _________________ Helge K. Leaving the Amiga in favour of a PC..

| IMHO is bad news...
Apple will reserve big quantities of PA-SEMI chips for itself, leaving almost none for other buyers... _________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." (J.L. I'd see the PA Semi chips being more useful for their STBs and handhelds (should they come up with something with more oomph than the current ARM chips).
Or perhaps they just saw a bargain and went for it. _________________

| Probably just a low cost way to obtain the design team and remove future potential competion?

Dunno, seems PA Semi was working on multi core ARM CPUs as of late. It doesn't matter much anymore, it is all going into the belly of the beast. _________________ Dammy

They had a really good second quarter this year..
http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=8592
Quote:
Apple in its fiscal second quarter shipped 2.29 million Macs to top even the most optimistic Wall Street projections.
Apple had been expected to ship 2.1 million Macs, according to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, one of Apple’s biggest supporters on Wall Street.
Since Mac sales were expected to carry the quarter it’s no surprise that Apple blew through Wall Street estimates too. Apple reported net income of $1.05 billion, or $1.16 a share, in its second quarter on record revenue of $7.51 billion. According to Thomson Financial, Apple was expected to report second quarter earnings of $1.07 a share on sales of $6.96 billion. |
