| I looked up this info for myself, and thought others would find it interesting:
Quote:
FlexATX is a PC motherboard form factor derived from ATX. The specification was released in 1999 by Intel as an addendum to the microATX specification. It uses a subset of the motherboard mounting holes required for microATX and the same I/O plate system as ATX and microATX. |

| Nice A shame there is plenty of good hardware out there with no Amiga OS to run it on. Looks like a good replacement for the A1 (other than CPU speed). |

| What could have been a source of much joy, is instead a monument to human stupidity.
Kudos to aCube, may they not fall into the same hole their OS partner did. |

| I hope it's cheaper than Sam440, as it uses a bigger board (less layers?) and still uses the same cpu (weaker than my 5 year old Pegasos1 that at least can run OS3/MOS -and OS4 through a wrapper- apps).
I think that if ACube want to push AROS forward they should invest a little in giving it m68k compatibility (or at least partial OS4/MOS compatibility).
IMHO AROS won't be perceived as "final version" by amiga users until it can run amiga apps natively or in emulation. It won't be a real alternative for PPC users until it runs amiga binaries. _________________ The only spanish amiga news web page/club: CUAZ

Thx mate
Yeah, thereś a little problem with Amiga Inc in legal proceedings against Hyperion - That means no H/W manufacturer will be granted an OS4 licence untii the court case is over. _________________ Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.

| Brilliant!
If only it was running OS4 and was available today... !
Oh well, I can wait, and hope, and wait and hope and wait and then wait some more.

If I could choose between any of these custom boards that offer poor performance (and poor features) and a mac mini with a 1.5Ghz G4... can you bet which one would I choose? Last edited by Crumb on 27-May-2008 at 09:27 AM.

Yes but what's the point, it would only extend to Mac Minis and they've been discontinued. Perhaps both options?
A Mac mini port and the SAM440ep.
I too would like to see a faster board.

Not just faster... something with a performance/price ratio that doesn't make me think they are laughing of the buyer.
Something that provides more performance than the last Macs produced by Apple many years ago. The latest ones were G5 cpus running at more than 2.5Ghz (and quad-core, but since that would be useless for AmigaOS give me a decent single core cpu, not an embedded low-spec chip). Anyway something faster than 1Ghz would be acceptable.
I thought they had learnt about their errors with Sam440... I guess that the millions of sales to use the boards with Linux answers the question of "does this hardware have a decent performance/price ratio?"
Give me a hacked PSX3 that runs OS4. I prefer it to an old embedded 603e cpu any dayLast edited by Crumb on 27-May-2008 at 10:51 AM.

| I saw the picture of it and read about it. Looking pretty cool. The FlexATX design is pretty handy, and we might see more of that technology when chips are going all the way down from 65 nanometers and below...Smaller chips leave much more room for even a small flexible motherboard as FlexATX..hence the name.. _________________ Helge K. Is there any info on how many units of SAM440 have been produced and sold in the embedded market?
