Announcement   Announcement : Yahoo eGroup founded for West Australian Amiga Users
posted by tiffers on 31-May-2008 9:57:59 (2414 reads)
A new Yahoo group for Amiga Users from Western Australia has been founded.

This eGroup is aimed to facilitate the formation of an electronic community for people living in Western Australia, and the broader Amiga community, and as a place for local Amiga users who are un-aware of the larger global Amiga communities and would like to get into contact with local users, either to return to the Amiga community at large, or to pass on valued hardware or software to people who might make better use than leaving it sitting in storage, or being trashed.

The eGroup is named AUGWA (Amiga Users Group of Western Australia), and is not associated with the old, now defunct, AUGWA club which used to exist in Perth, however, former members from that group, are of course welcome to join

We'd really love it if all WA Amiga Users, and members of the global Amiga community could join our group, so as to make any returnees welcome.

The URL is: http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/augwa/

Thanks,

AUGWA

Why just Western Australia and not the whole country?

Cool idea. I'll sign up as soon as I get back from taking the kids to the park.

Is this phase 1? Phase two is deciding on the pub to meet at and reminisce/cry-into-our-collective-beer?

Cheers!

Good idea! I tried this a while back on got no traction, so hopefully this will keep the remaining few in WA in contact.

Alas, I have no hardware left anymore, but I'm waiting on the Natami to be released Or the very least, buying an Efika to run Morphos.

ADUG already exists and covers the whole country.

There are 3 user groups in Victoria.

There is one in Canberra.

There is one is Sydney

Qld is so big it's impossible to get anyone to meet normally... and the President of ADUG lives in Qld (so in effect ADUG is Qld centric)... so they haven't set up a state based user group.

That leaves WA as the biggest state without a user group (until now).

SA is the only other major state without a user group.

Well done WA... and good idea posting it here. Seems you've flushed out a few more WA residents.

PS. All Australian Amigans are welcome to join the ADUG e-mail list or the most active Amiga user group (MAUG):

There is no Canberra one any more. It was disbanded officially on the weekend.
