Announcement   Announcement : Aladdin 4D 48 Hour Special Sale
posted by DiscreetFX on 27-Jul-2008 16:01:48 (3639 reads)
We are running a special price on the current version of Aladdin 4D. Normally A4D sells for $99.95 plus shipping, for the next 48 hours this product will only be $69.95 and will included free worldwide shipping.

Aladdin 4D works great on classic Amiga's, Amiga Video Toaster based systems and especially virtual Amiga environments like Amiga Forever from Cloanto running AmiKit. In fact reviews state that rendering times for Aladdin 4D are almost instant in Amiga virtual machines like Amiga Forever.

Aladdin 4D is the last commercial Amiga 3D animation program available that is in active development for Amiga OS 4.0, MorphOS, AROS, and Amiga virtual machines. This does not have to be the case though, we welcome competition and a vibrant active 3rd party community on Amiga and Amiga like systems. Your support of Aladdin 4D insures faster development of this unique program created by Greg Gorby. A4D is a great introduction to the 3D animation software industry. Anyone that purchases Aladdin 4D that buys LightWave 3D within one year gets a $50 credit towards LW3D. Aladdin 4D can be purchased from the link below. Rub the Lamp, Render the Magic. The smoke stops coming out of the lamp on July 29th, 2008 and this sale ends then.

Thanks for this nice offer!

Before I decide to buy it, some questions needed to be answered.

- Is this version runs flawlessly on OS4?
- Will there be any upgrade possibility from this version to the forthcoming OS4 native version?
- What is in the package? Is there a full detailed user guide in some form?

Thanks in advance!

I hope that I can read the answares before the sale ends :)

Bye!

@Lazi

Here are the answers to your questions.

1. It should run fine on OS 4.0

2. Yes, there will be an upgrade path.

3. CD-ROM & full user manual.

Aladdin runs fine with ud4, the camera won't track an object with Final or the July update unless Petunia is disabled or Aladdin is added to the black list. With the latest os4 update, Aladdin gives a GR on quitting, but can be ignored. If I write out the GR report & then try to ignore the GR, I lockup solid & have to do a hard reboot.

I have a kickstart layout with ud4 kickstart libs if I want to run it with Petunia v51.19.

The manual is very nicely laid out. The tutorials will get you going in no time.

One thing that needs to be done is to go through the tutorials on os4 & verify any bugs on a classic system. There were many reported bugs that never got fixed before the A1s came out.

I still enjoy playing with it once in a while & I look forward to an os4 version.

Nice offer! Too bad it is really not the best time for me right now (my wife will kill me if I buy more stuff)...

I have a question about file formats and Aladdin 4D. Can it import/export models in .obj format? I am trying to learn OpenGL and have coded a obj loader so I soon need an application to model objects for the OpenGL program and I hope Aladdin 4D can help with that (I want to support active Amiga software companies)...

At least you can still open a link on the Nova Design website concerning the supported file formats. As you can see... it can write 3D Studio and Lightwave... my guess is: it should be able to do wavefront OBJ. I ordered the software, so hopefully soon I can tell you.

Well, I found this text: "3D Object loaders and/or savers for the following formats: Aladdin 4D, Lightwave3D, GEO, EPS, DEM, Draw4D-Pro, and Draw4D, 3D Studio and more."

But I don't know what 'and more' are as it is not specified. Maybe obj? Who knows? Not me and that is why I asked...

Just watching Leo Laporte re-installing the Tricaster on
twitlive.tv. He's installing some transitions of yours right
now, I think:)

As for A4D, I'd be interested in the Mac version (or even
OS 4.X if some new HW becomes a reality)

"Is that video of Leo you saw on twitlive.tv recorded anywhere on the internet?"

I don't imagine he was recording last night, as he had
just got the Tricaster up and running again (HD failure) -
do think he was really digging the transitions, however.
Perhaps he will play with them some more during Mac
Break Weekly today.

Looking forward to A4D on OSX.

The Aladdin 4D Special Sale for $69.95 has ended but the package is available again for the regular price of $99.95 via the Aladdin 4D Blog link below. Aladdin 4D runs in near real time on Amiga Forever 2008 from Cloanto. Rub the Lamp, Render the Magic.
