Nice, install was very quick.

Load times have improved, now all I need is D-Opus license key to avoid the boot delays.

Amiga OS4 / MorphOS / AROS versions of AmiKit and AmigaSys - NON UAE
would be nice to have now.

Looks great man!

Glad to see you have adopted the new themes format offered by AfA_OS. Am I correct in thinking VisualPrefs is no longer used at all?

Cheers,
James

Had a quick bash, and it looks nice - not too dissimilar to 1.4.x, but the new loading theme and workbench skin is lovely to look at.

Just out of interest though, how come you cannot grab the updates via the Live update util?

Both types of themes are used. MorpheuZ can switch among VisualPrefs and AfA_OS themes easily. Altogether there are 22 themes (11 classic VisualPref's ones and 11 new 24bit ones).

This time the live update util only informs you there's an update for download. This is because the update not only contains the new Amiga programs but also updated Windows programs (like WinUAE, etc.) which simply cannot be updated by live update from Amiga side (while WinUAE is running). More info here.

Hi Jan,

I ordered a CD to support AmiKit.

My question is this: Would it be possible to offer the archive
in zip? I would like to get to the dir structure directly and just
copy for example the new themes or so.

Thanks

Regards,
Kotler

@Kotler

Yep, the ZIP should be part of the CD if there's enough space left.

Thank you for your response Jan, I had not realised that VP was limited to 8bit images - I cannot recall any problems using 24bit images, however it was some time since I created my VP theme.

Thanks again!

Cheers,
James

Ahh OK. I hadn't looked at the liveupdate section on the site before. I did check the version of UAE being used, and for some unfathomable reason assumed it was picking up my normal UAE executable (which is 1.5.2) forgetting that AmiKit had one in its installation drawer anyway.

Thank you for both the response and the work you put into AmiKit.

Heh, heh - not so "unfathomable". The feature IS there but it's disabled by default (compared to previous versions). AmiKit is able to use newer version of WinUAE if found anywhere in your system. However several new versions in the past were released with some strange path bug which prevented AmiKit from proper running. Therefore I disabled it. You can always enable it yourself by editing the AmiKit.ini file located in the root of your AmiKit installation folder. Change the WinUAECheck variable to yes.

@sundown

If WinUAE works on your Vista system (which it does for the majority of users - only a few reported problems which affect laptop users and their mobility graphics drivers have caused Vista to fall over when trying to use WinUAE recently), then you will not have any problems with AmiKit.

Most of the laptop related problems are solved by making sure your laptop has the most recent mobility graphics drivers installed. Desktop users have not reported any start up issues when running WinUAE under Vista.

@sundown

Just one thing. Better install the AmiKit somewhere on D: or any partition other than where Vista resides. This is because the Vista has some permission restrictions which might prevent you from read/write inside the AmiKit if installed on Vista's partition.
