| If they ran-out of stock so quickly, they are obviously trying to dump their inventory, before replacing it with a newer (and better) version... My first guess is that the Flex mobo is virtually ready for sale. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

| With only a few boards left I am very interested in what will be shown and announced at Pianetta. I have an A1 but I would buy a Flex if I knew there were solutions on 2 matters:
1. that a suitable graphics solution is available, considering no one manufactures for PCI or AGP graphics any more.
Interestingly, since Flex was going to be available in August, and has not yet, I suspect a new version may appear with say, a PCI express slot.
2. a suitable driver for OS 4.1 for the zigbee option were available.
It is this that would make the big difference for me because I want to be able to monitor remotely various transducers round the place. I am told that this can be done through USB anyway, so with a suitable driver I could go into action with the A1, but is anyone going to do this for the A1? We, in Auckland, are interested in the same questions for a new club machine.
So ACube do you have answers on these points? I hope to hear them from Pianetta.

ACube's primary mission must be continual cost reduction on the 440 line. Take a look at the motherboard pictures of the flex versus the original. There are a lot less components. With no more video on-board they have pulled out a big chunk of cost.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the flex version priced the same as or below the 533mhz "clearout" version.
One would also hope ACube are working on a next-generation product that gives more bang for the buck. A product based on the AMCC 460EX (just hitting the market now) is an obvious next step. That chip goes up to 1.2Ghz, has a 256K cache and supports DDR2 memory among other niceties. |

| Well, at least I arrived to the offer, now I wait the OS 4.1 and that it works in the Sam to 533 Mhz. Last edited by Templario on 20-Sep-2008 at 05:04 PM. Last edited by Templario on 20-Sep-2008 at 05:03 PM.
